The Role: Public Partnerships Manager
Public Partnerships Manager is an ideal role for someone who possesses a positive energy with a can do attitude, and an eagerness to help shape the future direction of Thai education. You have a thirst to solve intricate people problems, and like to meet individual from all walks of life who shape the fabric of our country.
Cultivating the collective leaderships to ensure all children in Thailand will get an excellent education is at core of Teach For Thailand, so it's important that we work closely with politicians, civil servants, academics and other stakeholders around the issues that affect our students and participants. Our team wants to play a part with our allies in making our education system more equitable, so we’re looking for a quick-witted and intellectually humble people to join our External Relations team.
As a Public Partnerships Manager you are spreading visibility of Teach For Thailand and its impact with the country public sector. It is your duty to establish and maintain strong relationships for current and future expansion of Teach For Thailand to different provinces of highest needs. Currently, the organization works with Ministry of Education and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration in placing over 100 teachers in more than 40 schools in Bangkok and the surrounding provinces. As we look to scale in the next few years, you will be responsible for potentially grow the size of our network schools and budget on the public partnerships by 100%.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with the local and national government (ie. Local Administrative Units, Ministry of Education, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and etc), school leaders (public, private, foundation schools), institutional partners (Chulalongkorn University and etc), to support the organization in achieving to operate sustainably at an ambitious scale
- Maintain positive relationships with senior officials at two educational offices, 40 principals and 100 mentors in schools where our teachers are currently placed, ensuring their ongoing satisfaction with Teach For Thailand, and cultivating them as advocates for our organization and cause, anticipating to grow in size by at least 15% in the coming year
- Develop and keep up to date a database of key information and statistics about the Thai school network and the details of our placement campaign, and use it to analyze and optimize results.
- Represent Teach For Thailand in meetings with key stakeholders, particularly civil servants and school leaders
- Recruit and manage a team of interns for the to support with the expansion plan research and school recruitment campaign
- Build local and national coalitions to help advance and support Teach For Thailand’s agenda
Qualifications
- Over 8 years of demonstrated experience managing complex relationships and advocacy work in Thailand; prior experience in government, think-tanks, or top tier consulting firms preferred
- Experience working in high-stress environments and a proven ability to exercise judgment even in a crisis
- Team player who can work with people from a broad range of backgrounds and experience, including leading campaigns and mentor more junior members of the team
- Ability to write well and translate complex issues into simple language that people who are not experts can understand
- Exceptional communications skills, the ability to build consensus among audiences with highly polarized viewpoints
- A strong belief in our mission and vision, familiar with education and policy environments that surround them.
- Fluency speaking, reading, and writing Thai
Compensation: Compensation for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience.
