Safe and Fair: Realizing women migrant workers’ rights and opportunities in the ASEAN region
Safe & Fair: Realizing women migrant workers’ rights and opportunities in the ASEAN region (2018/2022) (“Safe and Fair”), is part of the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative to eliminate violence against women and girls, a global, multi-year initiative between the European Union and United Nations. Safe & Fair is implemented through a partnership between the ILO and UN Women with the overriding objective of ensuring that labour migration is safe and fair for all women in the ASEAN region. The project aims to address women migrant workers’ vulnerabilities to violence and trafficking, strengthen rights-based and genderresponsive approaches to violence against women and labour migration governance and support access to essential services.
The Consultant works with and provides support to the members of the Programme Team in the development and implementation of the Joint ILO- UN Women Project Safe & Fair: Realizing women migrant workers’ rights and opportunities in the ASEAN region. The Consultant will provide support and assistance to the team to ensure effective programme implementation in line with UN Women, MPTF, and EU rules and regulations and in coordination with ILO.
Against this background, UN Women Regional Office in Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) is seeking to recruit an experienced consultant to provide administrative support to ensure effective systems and mechanisms to facilitate efficient organization, filing and monitoring of key documents and information in the office as well as organizing events/workshops/meetings are in place. Further details of the expected roles and responsibilities for the consultant are found below:
Roles and Responsibilities
The Consultant will work under the direct supervision of Ending Violence against Women Specialist/UNiTE Programme Manager in the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, to ensure achievements of following tasks and deliverables, in close collaboration with the Safe and Fair team at ILO:
- Maintain high standard documentation systems for both hard copy and electronic files documenting project agreements, plans, finances, expenditures, procurements agreements for Safe and Fair;
- Support Safe and Fair programme implementation, monitoring and reporting;
- Establishment of a quality control system that ensures completeness of all submissions to UN Women Regional Office;
- Arrangement of mission travel including Travel Authorizations, procuring air tickets, DSA calculation, etc.
- Organize events and meetings related to Safe and Fair;
- Support Safe and Fair country offices in matters related to programme administration including financial monitoring and oversight;
- Support procurement and partnership assessment process for Safe and Fair.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, Development Studies, Gender Studies, International Relations or other social science fields.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in programme administration, programme management support, and/or project monitoring and reporting;
- Experience working for UN Women, and/or other UN Agencies is desirable;
- Knowledge of UN Women and/or other UN corporate monitoring tools (ATLAS, Results Management System, Sharepoint, etc.) an advantage;
- Excellent command of English (oral and written), other UN languages an asset;
- Work on and knowledge of gender issues, especially in the Asia-Pacific region, is an asset
