The ICRC regional delegation in Bangkok provides assistance to victims of violence and works with authorities in order to improve the conditions in detention facilities. It is covering operations in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. It also endeavours to promote and to strengthen humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.

In this position, you will be expected to call upon your communication skills and your empathy to support the Economic Security activities of the ICRC Micro Economic Initiative program in the southern border provinces and assist the organisation fulfil its mandate.

Your main responsibilities

  • Implements the MEI (Micro Economic Initiatives) program in the Deep South provinces activities under the supervision of the line manager
  • Promote the ICRC's activities in the southernmost provinces of Thailand
  • Contribute to the implementation of ICRC projects/programs
  • Maintain contacts with ICRC’s interlocutors
  • Contributes to the analysis of the security, socio-economic, cultural and political environment relevant to the ICRC and shares relevant information with relevant
  • Contributes to the design and as team member to the implementation of the project
  • Analyses and contributes to written internal reporting and programmatic activities (institutional exercises)
  • Contributes to meaningful internal and external meetings (preparation, participation, reporting and follow up)
  • Prepares, participates and reports to all aspects of field mission
  • Fosters conducive environment (multidisciplinary approach, team dynamics) among team members.
  • Organizes the sustainability and the institutional filing of her/his work.

Your education and experience:

  • University degree or relevant professional experience;
  • Fluent knowledge of English and Thai
  • Knowledge of Melayu language would be an asset
  • Computer literacy
  • Good computer skills (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Good knowledge of geographically assigned environments
  • Holds a valid driving license and is able to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles

  • Good understanding of the political, geographical, social, and cultural environment of the Southern Border provinces
  • Good communication and analytical skills
  • Able to work independently and travels extensively while showing initiative for assigned projects and programmes
  • Respectful of the cultural diversity and specificity
  • Innovative and adaptable, ability to interact collaboratively in a multicultural team

 Standard function responsibilities

  • Supporting the MEI(Micro Economic Initiatives) program in the Deep South
  • Helps to ensure effective implementation of the MEI program and follows up on it
  • Contributes to identifying and establishing effective partnership with other actors in livelihood assistance, including service providers for vocational training and capacity building. Takes stock on lessons learnt and reflects them for the improvement of the MEI program
  • Participates in the MEI sub-committee meetings at the office level
  • Participates in other ICRC program such as external communication and dissemination sessions
  • Contributes to general context analyses and reporting
  • Remains available for any other task in response to needs or situation
