TREAT Asia-Therapeutics, Research, Education, and AIDS Training in Asia-is a network of clinics, hospitals, research institutions and community organizations working to ensure the safe and effective delivery of HIV/AIDS treatments throughout Asia and the Pacific. TREAT Asia is searching for the following to be based in Bangkok, Thailand

 

Project Manager, Pediatric Research

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

The Project Manager is based in TREAT Asia’s Bangkok office.  The position manages TREAT Asia’s pediatric HIV research-related projects, in collaboration with the Director of Research and Director of TREAT Asia.

The Project Manager plans, develops, implements and manages pediatric research-related activities for TREAT Asia.  The position works with regional clinical sites and hospitals within and outside of the TREAT Asia Pediatric Network, research and community partner organizations, and other local and regional non-governmental organizations to organize, promote and evaluate treatment research and related activities.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management

  • Works with research team members to set pediatric HIV research program goals, identify potential strategies for achieving goals, prioritize and allocate resources, schedule program activities, and adhere to activity time lines.
  • Coordinates pediatric HIV research and other program activities between the TREAT Asia program office, network leadership teams, participating clinical sites, data management center, clinical laboratories, vendors and consultants, and other partners.
  • Provides overall management support to the pediatric HIV research program from study design, to implementation, closeout, and analysis.
  • Supervises and manages design, and development or review of study or program-related materials and documents, including protocols, manuals of operation, presentations, and data collection and training tools.
  • Assures compliance of participating clinical sites with protocol-specific study procedures (e.g., patient recruitment, screening, enrollment, follow-up), regulations governing the conduct of clinical research (e.g., human subjects protections), and quality assurance procedures.
  • Coordinates and tracks the development, submission, and publication of pediatric HIV research concepts, manuscripts, and abstracts, as appropriate.
  • Manages program budgets and monitors program spending with amfAR and TREAT Asia finance and accounting staff. Coordinates the development, monitoring, and reporting of pediatric HIV research-related budgets, including of subgrantees.
  • Collaborates with amfAR and TREAT Asia grants managers on grants-related requirements, including preparation of progress and financial reports to donors.
  • Facilitates external technical support, as
  • Assists in applying for grants, writing proposals, and seeking other funding for the program.
  • Works on other or special projects that may be assigned by the Director or the Director of Research

 

Communications

  • Coordinates program communications, including organizing, scheduling, and facilitating conference calls and meetings of program leadership or study teams.
  • Develops and fosters relationships with TREAT Asia network sites and external partners to promote awareness of the program or specific projects.
  • Contributes to TREAT Asia communications promoting awareness of the program or specific projects.
  • Represents amfAR and the TREAT Asia Network at internal and external meetings, as requested.
  • Provides written summaries of project activities for TREAT Asia and amfAR staff, program steering committees, and other partners.

 

Administrative

  • Coordinates preparation and execution of program-related meetings and other activities (e.g., steering committee meetings, conference calls, trainings). Includes responsibility for logistical aspects (e.g., determining program venues, arranging for speakers, supervising travel arrangements).
  • Maintains electronic and paper files in the TREAT Asia office on research and related activities.
  • Serves as moderator/facilitator at project activities and events, as needed.
  • Supervises and evaluates administrative and other assigned program staff.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Health professional training (e.g., counseling, nursing, medicine) or graduate-level science degree.  Minimum two years of experience working in the HIV/AIDS or health-related project management and/or research field.  Experience working in HIV/AIDS clinical research, knowledge of treatment and care issues related to pediatric HIV, and understanding of public health issues preferred.

Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills. Competent public speaking ability.  Fluency in at least one Asian language represented in the TREAT Asia Network required; additional languages/dialects of the region a plus.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.  Prior meeting planning experience a plus.

 

Regional travel required.

 

No work permit associated with the position.
