Private Sector Engagement Program Officer

Location: Bangkok, Thailand

Contract: Fixed term (end date: 31 March 2018)

Expected Start Date: as soon as possible

Salary: 730,824-803,000 THB per annum (13 months)

The project focuses on

1) evidence-building of impacts of food producer’s supply chains

2) multi-stakeholders dialogues in maize and shrimp supply chains

3) public campaigns to improve consumers’ awareness of creating a just and inclusive food system.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement the Private Sector Engagement Strategic Plan, together with the contribution to the adjustment, design, and planning of future engagement strategy
  • Lead the planning and implementation of multi-stakeholders’ platforms, International/national conferences, initiatives to improve food systems, in particular seafood and maize supply chains
  • Engage private sector in sustainability talk with CSOs and impacted communities with support of research and strong evidence
  • Liaise closely with the Campaign Officer and Food Justice Programme Officer over private sector influencing issues and events
  • Develop partnerships in the context of international development, including identifying partnership opportunities, brokering and cultivating relationships, designing partnership arrangements, facilitating partner negotiations, and formalizing partnership deal structures
  • Engage with CSOs and grassroots organisations with the aim to build/strengthen their capacity and skill in private sector engagement and influencing
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key corporations, investment think tanks, philanthropic groups and strategic research institutions in Thailand and region. Organize events as part of the initiatives
  • Communicate sustainability information to a wider public as well as stakeholders in Thailand. Use digital and new media to promote and popularize the initiatives
  • Produce case studies of private sector partnerships that clearly demonstrate both the advantages and challenges
  • Undertake any additional tasks assigned by Supervisor
  • Coordinate and deliver agreed strategy and plans, and revise as needed
  • Contribute to Asia and Thailand strategic, Impact Investment Fund, and Private Sector Strategy

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

  • Candidates should hold a Master's or Bachelors degree in business background, relevant social science or natural resource management field.
  • At least Three years of relevant professional experience managing public-private sector engagement and multi-stakeholder engagement in Thailand and/or Asia.
  • Considerable previous experience of project/financial management and evaluation processes.
  • Experience should include supervision of staff, development of work plans, personnel management, and working with communities and user groups.
  • Experience in and commitment to gender issues and to addressing gender inequalities in all key areas of responsibilities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Thai and English and ability to relate to people from all backgrounds.
  • Interpersonal and cross-cultural skills appropriate to the participatory project approach are essential. 
  • Proven influencing and negotiating skills with internal and external audiences in complex and stressful circumstances.
  • Ability to advice and support field staff in a consultative manner.

 

REMARK: This is a national hired post. We will be unable to provide visa and work permit to a non-Thai national.
