Conducting a Train-the-Trainer Session
Purpose
RTI International is seeking a seasoned Thai trainer to provide a multi-day train-the-trainer (TOT) session in late June or early July 2017 to consultants and staff of the Center of Civil Society and Nonprofit Management (CSNM). As a result of the TOT, participants will be able to successfully deliver three training modules to civil society organizations (CSOs) in Thailand and boost their institutional capacity. CSNM (which is part of Khon Kaen University) mentors and trains nonprofit organizations within Thailand on a wide range of areas in order to boost their financial, managerial, and institutional capacity. RTI International is helping CSNM to develop three training modules that will be a part of CSNM’s core training package. These modules include: 1) Becoming a Leader and Agent for Change; 2) Financial Management; and 3) Fundraising and Resource Mobilization. Modules are not lecture-based or classroom style; each training module is a three-day module that engages participants in active learning so that they can apply their skills in real-time.
Assignment
In late June or early July, the consultant will conduct a TOT (which will range from three to five days in duration) in order to equip CSNM staff and consultants with the skills to successfully deliver each of the three-day training modules to CSOs in Thailand. The consultant will conduct the TOT in Thai and will work with a RTI staff member on the methodology of the TOT to ensure that participants understand: 1) the content of each training module; and 2) training techniques that will engage CSO participants in an interactive and dynamic manner. RTI will work with the consultant to plan the TOT agenda but the consultant will also be expected to take a lead role in preparing it.
Qualifications
The consultant should be an experienced trainer with demonstrated success in utilizing participatory adult-learning techniques. The consultant should have a minimum of 15 years of professional experience and at least eight years in training adults. The consultant should also have at least 5 years in working with nonprofit organizations in Thailand.
The consultant should have familiarity in delivering dynamic trainings. Moreover, she/he should have experience in training trainers so that they have the skills to deliver highly effective trainings and develop the skills o participants. The consultant should also have a broad understanding of the subject matter covered in the training modules and should have familiarity in training and strengthening the capacity of nonprofit organizations. The consultant should be fluent in Thai and English.
Level of Effort (LOE)
The level of effort (LOE), or number of day required for preparing for and delivering the TOT in Khon Kaen will be capped at 12 days. The consultant will charge based on actual time (which may be less) but will spend no more than 12 days on the assignment. The consultant must be available in the late June/early July in order to conduct the work during this timeframe. RTI will pay for travel costs to and from Khon Kaen in addition to lodging and per diem.
