Introduction
The Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD) is a regional center on disability and
development established in Bangkok, Thailand as a legacy of the Asia and Pacific Decade of Disabled
Persons, 1993-2002, by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific
(ESCAP). APCD is managed by the Foundation of Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability
(APCD Foundation) under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
APCD has been endorsed by the ESCAP as a regional cooperative base for its Biwako Millennium
Framework for an inclusive society in the Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons, 2003-2012,
and its Incheon Strategy to Make the Right Real, 2013-2022.

APCD is implementing the APCD/JAIF ASEAN Hometown Improvement Project in selected target
communities in Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and
Vietnam. The project will be implemented in close collaboration with different stakeholders such as
government, non-government organizations, Disabled People’s Organizations (DPO), media, business,
other relevant stakeholders, and the general community.
Job Description
The Community Development Expert will be responsible for the effective coordination and
documentation of the field activities of the APCD/JAIF Project in collaboration with local
stakeholders. He/she will carry out the following activities:
   • Report to the Community Development Manager
   • Coordinate the planned project activities in the target communities in collaboration with thefield project officers and relevant local stakeholders
   • Documentation of field project activities and development of project progress reports
   • Provide technical inputs on community-based development approaches
   • Other tasks as the need of the project requires
Working Conditions
   • The Community Development Expert will be based in Bangkok;
   • The assignment will have an initial duration of 12 (twelve) months (3 months trial period);
   • Starting Date: 1 May 2017;
   • Working Place: APCD Building, 255 Rajvithi Road, Rajthevi, Bangkok 10400;
   • Hours of Work: Monday to Friday: 08.30-16.30 Hours (Lunch break 12.00-13.00 Hours);
   • Holidays: According to APCD’s Work and Regulations.
Requirements
   • At least 3 years of working experience in project implementation and coordination
   • Degree in community development, social sciences, or relevant fields
   • Working knowledge on community-based development approaches
   • Proven skills in documentation and/or development of project reports
   • Proficient in English language
   • Ability to work with multi-cultural teams
   • Knowledge and experience on disability inclusive development is an advantage
   • Persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply
