Background/IRC Summary:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces.
Job Overview/Summary:
The Senior Community Health Officer is required to oversee the all aspects of community health activities in camps through promotion, prevention, and education campaigns. This involves community mobilization in recognizing and addressing health issues, prevention of communicable diseases and early detection of medical problems and timely referral to health facilities in camps. He/she provides technical support for the community health teams in site 1 and site 2 through training of community health topics, developing work plan, monitoring of community health activities, organizing awareness raising campaigns, and communicable diseases outbreak prevention and response activities, hygiene promotion, promotion of healthy behavior, and public health awareness activities from other sectors.

Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor degree in public health or related field
Work Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in public health services, preferably in refugee setting. Practical experience in clinical or preventive health care is a plus.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
Language Skills: Fluency in Burmese and English. Karenni or Karen or Thai is a plus

Certificates or Licenses: Bachelor degree in public health or related field. |
Working Environment: The position will be based in Mae Hong Son, a town in the North of Thailand, with frequent and regular travel to the two temporary shelters for displaced person. Both the Mae Hong Son town and the two temporary shelters are in a low risk area.
