Position:             Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Location:             Yangon (or possibility of working from Mawlamyine)

Type:                    Full-Time, Local Hire

Starting Date:      6 March, 2017

Salary:                 Negotiable based on experience (Position funded from March to August 2017, with possibility of extension)

Reports to:         M&E Coordinator

 

Description of Position:

World Education has provided access to quality education for displaced persons from Myanmar on the Thailand-Myanmar border for over 15 years. and has supported curriculum development, special education, youth leadership programs, teacher training, vocational education, and organizational strengthening with local partner organizations. At present, World Education leads the implementation of the education component of the USAID-funded Project for Local Empowerment (PLE). PLE Education focuses on providing support to a wide range of local education service providers in migrant and refugee communities in Thailand and in underserved communities in South East Myanmar.

Based in Yangon , the M&E Officer will support the PLRE Education M&E Coordinator in the collection, collation and input of data, in  organizational development activities related to data management and monitoring. The post-holder will liaise with teams and staff across three field offices in both countries and will be expected to engage in a significant travel between Mae Sot, Thailand, Yangon  and Mawlamyine, Myanmar. 

The main responsibilities of the position are as follows:

  • Coordinate and follow up on data collection with partner focal points for quarterly and final reports, under the direction of the M&E Coordinator
  • Assist in ensuring that data from the duration of the project is complete, well organized on WE databases.
  • Support the M&E coordinator to develop and implement M+E capacity building and training for partner organizations, including trouble-shooting database issues that partners may experience
  • Maintain database for the reporting of data and assist in ensuring that data from previous years is stored and maintained
  • Work under the direction of the M&E Coordinator in responding to additional or external data requests in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist with other M&E duties, as requested

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience working in the field of M&E and data collection
  • Experience working with a regional education NGO or CBO is desired
  • Strong computer skills essential, particularly in Excel & Word (skilled in the use of Access and/or databases highly desirable)
  • A strong eye for detail and accurate data input
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency across Skype or other media sources
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
  • Strong English language skills- spoken and written (Karen, Burmese and/or Mon language skills an asset)
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative
  • Experience of training or mentoring others, with experience in training others in data collection and/or M&E activities highly desirable.
  • Ability to work and coordinate with a manager and other colleagues based in different offices
  • A willingness to travel, particularly to Mae Sot and Mawlamyine
