AUN/SEED-Net has been established to promote human resource development in engineering for sustainable socio-economic development of the ASEAN region. The network consists of 26 member institutions in ASEAN with assistance from 14 Japanese supporting universities. Full operation of AUN/SEED-Net Project started in 2003 with main support from the Japanese Government through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Project activities have been implemented by the Member Institutions and AUN/SEED-Net Secretariat with support from 14 leading Japanese Supporting Universities and JICA Project Office for AUN/SEED-Net.

Job Title: Program Officer (Editorial)                      Office Location: Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok

Length of Salary (2016 Actual): THB 31,500 – 37,000 per month plus medical insurance, annual bonus

Contract Period: till 10 March 2018 as the end date of ongoing project phase (extension becomes possible after the next project phase is officially approved)

Main duties and Responsibilities:

Under supervision of Unit Chief, Program and Editorial Officer is expected to perform day-to-day functions and additional ad hoc tasks assigned to support the project team members. The position holder will work mainly for further development of the scientific journal which AUN/SEED-Net started its publication in 2012. Main duty includes planning and coordination with chief editor, editors, reviewers, and authors. Also, the position holder will implement online journal management system to obtain highly-evaluated citation index for the journal. The development of online journal management system will be assigned to one of project member universities or experts in private sector.  

Details of duties/responsibilities:

1. Set publication strategy and schedule with a feasible plan of calling for papers in consultation with Unit Chief
2. Evaluate submitted journal papers with Chief Editor and consult with authors regarding its amendment
3. Monitor general trend in terms of scientific journal and set a feasible strategy for the journal to obtain appropriate citation index
4. Implement and manage the developed online journal management system
5. Increase the quality and utility of the journal by researchers in the field of engineering
6. Develop the journal further to achieve the level of international recognition
7. Program Officer (Editor) is expected to perform other duties relevant to project activities as assigned

Qualifications

Essential: Position holder must be or possess the following qualifications:

1. Thai nationality
2. Minimum 2 years work experience (editorial job experience is desirable)
3. Bachelor’s degree in any field
4. Excellent communication skills with strong oral and written in English
5. Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Illustrator, Photo shop
6. Proactive, committed and flexible to work with colleagues and project partners from different backgrounds
7. Management skills of assigned tasks with priorities
8. Able to work extra hours and sometimes on weekends
9. Able to travel within ASEAN countries
10. Self-learning and pro-active attitude
