Position:              Administrative Coordinator 

Location:             Mae Sot, Thailand

Type:                     Full-Time, Temporary (January to August 2017, with possibility of extension)

Starting Date:    01 February 2017

Salary:                  20,000-23,000 baht/month depending on experience

Reports to:         HQ-based Program Officer

 

Description

World Education has worked in the Thailand-Myanmar border region for 15 years, improving access to and quality of education for displaced persons from Myanmar living on both sides of the border. During that time, World Education has supported curriculum development, special education, youth leadership programs, teacher training, vocational education, and organizational capacity building with local partner organizations.

World Education is implementing the education component of the USAID-funded Project for Local Empowerment (PLE) with partners the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the Border Consortium (TBC) and Mae Tao Clinic (MTC). The PLE focuses on providing multi-faceted support to a wide range of local education service providers including work with partners in the temporary shelters and migrant communities in Thailand as well as ethnic minority partners operating in Southeast Myanmar.

With PLE coming to an end in mid-2017, the Administrative Coordinator (temporary) position will coordinate all aspects of project end requirements, working together with logistics, finance, human resources, and communications teams in both the field office and headquarters, to ensure compliance and adherence to policies. S/he may also support data collection, documentation, and administrative functions needed in the final year of the project. The position is funded for seven months, with the possibility of extension.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain workplan for administrative and financial functions in the final year of the project
  • Coordinate with headquarters-based staff (in Boston) to ensure compliance with organizational and donor policies and systems
  • Coordinate and give guidance to WE teams under PLE in regards to admin, HR, documentation, sub-grant management and finance, to ensure end of project requirements are met
  • Undertake other administrative, logistical, and documentation duties as requested

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 3 years’ experience in developing and maintaining administration systems
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Experienced in the understanding and implementation of policies and guidelines
  • Experience in coordinating planning across a number of teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work across teams and cross-culturally and to meet and motivate others to meet deadlines
  • Strong English skills, spoken and written (Thai and/or Myanmar language skills an asset)
  • Excellent skills in word processing and spreadsheet software (Word and Excel)
  • M&E Experience is desirable, but not essential
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative
