Position title: Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Specialist
Directly reports to: Sustainable Markets Program Manager, WWF Thailand
Technically Report to: Asia Finance and Commodities Specialist
Validity: 18 months

Background
WWF-Thailand is looking for a unique person to support their Finance Sector Outreach Strategy team in their efforts to engage with the finance sector South East Asia on the topic of sustainable finance. Soft commodities will be the priority for this post, and an initial focus on the work is likely to be in the fisheries, rubber, and timber, pulp and paper sector (engaging investors and banks on more sustainable lending and investment practices).
The Finance Sector Outreach Strategy team works with financial institutions in the debt and equity markets, regulators, stock exchanges in order to deliver: improved risk management, capacity, and financial performance in high-impact sectors; insights and data on key global trends; and innovation breakthroughs in sustainable financial products.
Major Function
To assist the Sustainable Markets team in carrying out research on commodity supply chains and general Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues to be included in guides and reports targeted at the finance sector, supporting the launch of these reports and the follow-up activities such as workshops with banks and investors, and working directly with the finance sector to implement ESG practices in their investment and lending activities.
Major Responsibilities
This TOR covers the main tasks and conveys the spirit of the sort of tasks that are anticipated proactively from staff. Other tasks may be assigned as necessary according to organizational needs.
Working Relationships
The mission of WWF Thailand’s Sustainable Markets Unit is to transform the soft commodities markets in Thailand. Thailand is a global leader in agricultural and seafood commodities. The Unit works with government agencies to influence policy, corporations to transform supply chains, and the consuming public to drive more sustainable choices in commodities consumption.
