Yaowawit School is home to more than 140 children ranging from 3 to 18 years old. Many of our children have been orphaned, neglected, abused, abandoned or trafficked. Here at Yaowawit, we have created a sanctuary for our children to learn, grow and thrive in. Not only do we provide them with a high-quality education, we provide them with a home. We do this with the aim of breaking the poverty cycle.

Job description: We are working towards becoming a bilingual school and so we want to increase the amount of English usage throughout the school. You will be teaching English mainly to Grades 1-6, as well as to high schoolers and teachers. We are currently doing a lot of work on phonics. We’ve also started teaching maths in English with Grades 1 and 2. Start date is open for negotiation, although a sooner start is preferred.

Requirements:

  • We need a fluent English speaker, ideally native level - British English preferred
  • Any degree (preference will be given to a degree in education)
  • TESOL training
  • Experience teaching
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Ideally not older than 45 years old
  • MUST love children, be fun-loving and caring
  • Must be hard working and want to actively contribute to the school community

Minimum salary of 20,000 Bath/month - salary will depend on your training and work experience.  Accommodation, food (3 meals per day, 7 days a week), a work permit and health insurance are included.

We are located near the small town of Kapong and within driving distance of Takuapa, Phang Nga and Khao Lak where you can find big shops, markets and beaches. People are very friendly here, and while some people might think life is slow, there’s always lots going on at the school. There are a lot of people who are open to doing language exchanges if you would like, and you will certainly learn a lot about Thai culture.

More information can be found at http://yaowawit.org/

Feel welcome to ask any questions or send in your CV. Everyone will be responded to, but only the most qualified will be offered an interview via Skype.
