To provide temporary support to East Asia-Pacific (EAPRO) Emergency Section in a wide range of humanitarian action support. This will include: Provide guidance and support to the Country Offices in tools and methodologies of emergency preparedness and response, - planning and results monitoring in humanitarian programme, preparations of emergency appeal and reports. Supports the Regional Emergency Adviser in the overall preparation of planning documents, donor reports incl financial management and overall work of the Regional Emergency section.
As the incumbent Regional Emergency Specialist is transitioning to another assignment, there is a need for temporary support to bridge the gap while EAPRO Emergency Section undertakes the recruitment for his replacement.
In addition, the vacancy occurs at a very busy time of the year with year-end reporting, preparation of a new ROMP and during Monsoon season when occurrence of (natural) disasters is likely to increase and a higher demand for support from CO can be expected. This temporary support is proposed with the specific objectives outlined below.
Work Assignment: Under the supervision of the Regional Emergency Advisor, the consultant will focus on the following:
Deliverables: Timely and thorough analysis is made to identify emergency-prone situations and contribute to early warning and enhancing emergency preparedness/readiness for response.
Estimated Duration of Contract: 15 October 2016 – 15 January 2017 (3 months).
Official Travel: Office-based assignment.
