The Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) is a field station attached to the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. It is part of the Mahidol Oxford Research Unit (MORU) which is a collaborative effort between Mahidol and Oxford Universities, and is part-funded by a UK charity, the Wellcome Trust. SMRU’s aims are to:

i. Treat and care for patients with malaria.

ii. Undertake research into malaria in this area in order to determine the best methods of prevention and treatment.

iii) To advise on the treatment and the control of malaria in the South East Asia region and more widely.

Since 2009, SMRU is engaged also in Tuberculosis program with activities on active and passive case findings, diagnosis and treatment of TB patients with updated protocol and best quality of care in full cooperation with national programs and other stakeholders

The post holder will be based at SMRU office in Maesod.  They may occasionally be a requirement to work at the migrant clinics depend on the situation.

 

Report to:       Data manager (Maesot)

 

Tasks/Responsibilities:

- Organize and gather source documents from different part of TB program and enter data into TB database.

- To assist project of TB screening in Maela

- To help medical staff on site to check and complete logbook and enter information on computer file from logbook

- Organize and processing data cleaning as a weekly and monthly basic

- Contribute to monthly, quarterly semester, and yearly statistical reports for submission to program manager.

- Assist with the development, design, and implementation of database structure.

- Communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with other department on different project/study.

- Ensure that management between department/project and Maesot IT remains current and accurate.

- Ensure that the database is clean and ready for analysis.

- Providing data set for query as request

 

Essential Criteria

- Minimum 1 year experience in working with Microsoft Excel

- Diploma level education

- Organize data by creating query and providing report

- Basic English

- Fluent in Karen and Burmese 

- The ability to motivate and lead a team

- Good communication skills

- Good in relationship

- Motivated and able to work under pressure

- Interest in how use computer as a tool for data analysis.

- Ready to any assignment required by the unit

 

Desirable Criteria

- Basic Thai and English

- Experience in data entry and management of data files

- Experience in working with Microsoft Access Database is a plus
