Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 20 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary refugee shelters in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. Our office located in Mae Sariang is looking for an efficient, motivated and experienced Thai national for the position as IT Officer.
IT Officer
Duty Station: Mae Sariang Town, Mae Hong Son Province
Work Locations: Mae Sariang, Mae Ra Ma Luang and Mae La Oon Camps
Contract Duration: Until 14 May 2027, with possibility of extension
Salary Range: THB 30,000 per month plus benefits
Main Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain all computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment to ensure proper functionality and availability.
- Ensure timely and regular data backup procedures and maintain organized and secure data storage systems.
- Implement and maintain adequate antivirus and malware protection and provide troubleshooting and problem resolution as required.
- Advise management and staff on IT requirements, equipment procurement, system upgrades, and technology improvements.
- Maintain network infrastructure, setup, and configurations in all office facilities and ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and security of organizational data.
- Maintain internet connectivity and network configurations to maximize performance, reliability, and security.
- Maintain the IT inventory through regular inspections, asset tracking, documentation, and status updates.
- Provide technical support, training, and assistance to office and camp staff as required.
- Support the implementation and enforcement of organizational IT policies, procedures, and data protection standards.
- Coordinate with external service providers and vendors for maintenance, repairs, procurement, and specialized technical support when necessary.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and records related to IT systems and assets.
Essential Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience in hardware, software, and networking.
- At least two years of professional experience in IT support, systems administration, networking, or a related field.
- Intermediate level of written and spoken English and fluency in Thai.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office applications, Windows operating systems, networking, and AI-powered productivity tools.
- Ability to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide effective user support and training to staff with varying levels of IT knowledge.
- Knowledge of network security, data protection, backup systems, and troubleshooting of computer and network-related issues.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to project locations, including Mae Ra Ma Luang and Mae La Oon Camps.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and respond effectively to urgent technical issues.
- A valid motorcycle and/or driving license
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with NGOs, humanitarian organizations, or development agencies.
- Experience supporting multi-site offices and remote users across different locations.
- Experience administering cloud-based platforms such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, or similar collaboration and productivity tools.
- Knowledge of cloud security, user access management, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and identity management practices.
- Experience with cybersecurity best practices, including endpoint protection, vulnerability management, security awareness training, incident response, and data protection.
- Familiarity with network administration, Wi-Fi deployment, firewall configuration, and secure remote access solutions.
- Experience with IT asset management systems, inventory tracking, equipment lifecycle management, and software license management.
- Knowledge of backup, emergency recovery, and business continuity procedures.
- Experience preparing technical documentation, user guides, and IT policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Karen languages would be an advantage.
