Rapid Asia is an independent management consulting firm based in Bangkok specializing in research, monitoring, and evaluations for programs, projects, social marketing campaigns, and other social development initiatives. We conduct research across a wide range of thematic areas, including migration, human trafficking, gender, health, climate change, education, livelihoods, and humanitarian response. Our clients include major donors, UN agencies, international NGOs, and development organizations. Rapid Asia has implemented research and evaluation projects in more than 40 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe, and South America.

We are currently recruiting Data Collectors for a short-term contract assignment to support a large-scale quantitative survey of refugee communities in Thailand (Mae Hong Son, Tak, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi). The project involves conducting face-to-face interviews with refugees, the majority of whom are Karen and/or Karenni speakers. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training before fieldwork begins and a certificate upon successful completion of the assignment, issued by our trusted partners and us.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct face-to-face interviews with refugee respondents using a computer tablet.
• Communicate effectively with respondents in Karen and/or Karenni.
• Follow the sampling plan and achieve assigned interview targets.
• Ensure all survey interviews are completed accurately and meet project quality standards.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to research ethics throughout the assignment.
• Coordinate with field supervisors and submit completed interviews according to project timelines.

Requirements

• Fluency in Karen and/or Karenni is required.
• Ability to communicate in Thai or English is an asset.
• Completed at least secondary school, diploma, vocational school, or equivalent
• Must have valid documentation and legal authorization to work in Thailand without restriction (e.g., a valid work permit or other documentation permitting employment under Thai law).
• Enthusiastic, professional, with high commitment and ability to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality data collection.
• Comfortable using a tablet for data collection.
• Previous experience in survey research, data collection, humanitarian programs, or community outreach is an advantage but not required.
• Ability to travel and work in assigned field locations within Thailand.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends when required.
