Workplace Safety and Basic Firefighting Trainer

Project: TUI Academy 2 Project

Location: Phang Nga (1 position) and Phuket (1 position), Thailand

Implementing Agency: Plan International Thailand

Expected Training Date: 14 September 2026 (Phang Nga) and 28 September 2026 (Phuket)

Duration: 3.5 hours

1. Background

The TUI Academy 2 Project is implemented by Plan International Thailand with support from the TUI Care Foundation to improve the employability of vulnerable young women and men in Phang Nga and Phuket through vocational skills development and access to decent employment opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industry.

As part of the work-readiness preparation programme, participants will receive training on Workplace Safety and Basic Firefighting to strengthen their understanding of occupational safety practices and emergency preparedness before entering internships and employment in the hospitality industry. The training aims to provide participants with essential knowledge of workplace safety, accident prevention, emergency response procedures, and the proper use of basic firefighting equipment.

Plan International Thailand is seeking qualified trainers to deliver an interactive 3.5 hour training workshop for project participants in Phuket and Phang Nga.

2. Purpose of the Assignment

To deliver a Workplace Safety and Basic Firefighting training workshop that equips youth participating in the TUI Academy 2 Project with fundamental knowledge and practical skills to work safely, prevent workplace accidents, respond appropriately to emergencies, and correctly use basic firefighting equipment in accordance with workplace safety standards.

3. Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities

• Prepare a training outline, presentation materials, and practical demonstration equipment prior to the training.
• Coordinate with the Project Coordinator regarding the training schedule, venue, participant profile, and required equipment.
• Deliver a 3.5 hour interactive training using presentations, demonstrations, and practical exercises.
• Introduce fundamental concepts of occupational safety and security in the workplace.
• Explain relevant occupational safety laws and employees' responsibilities.
• Raise awareness of common workplace hazards and accident prevention measures.
• Demonstrate different classes of fire and appropriate firefighting methods.
• Demonstrate the correct operation of portable fire extinguishers.
• Facilitate hands-on practice in using fire extinguishers safely.
• Conduct a short knowledge assessment and answer participants' questions.
• Comply with Plan International Thailand's Child Safeguarding Policy, Gender Equality and Inclusion Policy, and other relevant organizational policies.

4. Key Results/Deliverables

• Training outline and presentation materials are submitted prior to the workshop.
• A 3.5-hour Workplace Safety and Basic Firefighting Training is successfully delivered.
• Participants receive both theoretical instruction and practical demonstrations on workplace safety and fire extinguisher use.
• A brief knowledge assessment is conducted.

5. Duration of Assignment

The assignment will consist of 3.5 hours training session.

Training Date 14 September 2026 (Phang Nga) and 28 September 2026 (Phuket)

6. Duty Station

Phang Nga (1 position) and Phuket (1 position)

7. Reporting Line

The Consultant will report directly to the SOYEE Programme Manager and work closely with the TUI Academy project coordinator at Plan International Thailand.

8. Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Fire Protection, Engineering, Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, or a related field, or equivalent professional qualifications.
• At least 3 years of experience in delivering workplace safety or fire safety training.
• Certified trainer or instructor in occupational safety, fire prevention, or emergency response is preferred.
• Experience conducting practical fire extinguisher training.
• Knowledge of occupational safety regulations and emergency procedures applicable to workplaces in Thailand.
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
• Experience working with youth or workforce development programmes will be an advantage.

9. Ethics and Child Safeguarding

The consultant must adhere to Plan International’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct and ensure that all activities promote gender equality, inclusion, and child/youth protection.

10. Payment Terms

Payment will be made upon satisfactory completion of deliverables and submission of reports, as per the agreed schedule in the consultant’s contract.

11. Confidentiality

All information, materials, and documents shared or produced during the consultancy shall remain confidential and the property of Plan International Thailand.
