Life Skills for Hospitality and Service Work

 

Project: TUI Academy 2 Project

Location: Phang Nga (1 position) and Phuket (1 position), Thailand

Implementing Agency: Plan International Thailand

Expected Start Date: 25 July 2026 (Phang Nga) and 27 July 2026 (Phuket)

Duration: 48 training hours (approximately 7 weeks, 3–4 days per week)

 

1. Background

The TUI Academy 2 Project is implemented by Plan International Thailand with support from the TUI Care Foundation to enhance the employability of vulnerable young women and men in Phang Nga and Phuket through skills development and access to decent employment opportunities in the hospitality and tourism sector.

 

As part of the project, a Life Skills Training Programme will be delivered to strengthen participants' personal, social, and workplace competencies. The programme aims to build participants' confidence, resilience, communication, teamwork, leadership, and work readiness, enabling them to successfully transition into internships and employment within the hospitality and service industry.

 

Plan International Thailand has developed the Life Skills curriculum and training resources for the project. The selected Life Skills Facilitator will work closely with the Project Coordinator and project team to review the curriculum, plan each training session in advance, and adapt learning activities and facilitation approaches to suit participants' needs while maintaining the intended learning outcomes. The facilitator will deliver engaging, learner-centered training using participatory and experiential learning approaches to promote the practical application of life skills in both everyday life and the workplace.

 

2. Purpose of the Assignment

To facilitate the Life Skills Training Programme for youth participating in the TUI Academy 2 Project by delivering the project curriculum using participatory and learner-centered approaches. The consultant will work closely with the Project Coordinator and project team to adapt training activities to participants' learning needs, ensuring high-quality delivery and achievement of the intended learning outcomes.

 

3. Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities

  • Review and familiarize themselves with the Life Skills curriculum and training materials provided by Plan International Thailand prior to the commencement of the training.
  • Work closely with the Project Coordinator and project team to review, adapt, and contextualize the curriculum, training activities, and facilitation methods to ensure they are appropriate for the participants' learning needs while maintaining the intended learning outcomes.
  • Consult and coordinate with the Project Coordinator in advance to prepare training plans, session schedules, required materials, and facilitation approaches before each training module.
  • Deliver a total of 48 training hours using participatory, learner-centered, and experiential learning approaches in accordance with the approved curriculum and training schedule.
  • Facilitate learning sessions covering key Life Skills competencies, including self-awareness, self-management, emotional intelligence, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, workplace readiness, gender equality and inclusion, and other topics included in the project curriculum.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that encourages active participation, mutual respect, and positive youth development.
  • Monitor participants' attendance, participation, behavior, and learning progress throughout the training, and provide constructive feedback where appropriate.
  • Conduct pre-training and post-training assessments using the tools provided by the project and contribute observations on participants' progress.
  • Participate in planning meetings, coordination meetings, debriefing sessions, and reflection meetings with the project team before, during, and after the training as required.
  • Submit attendance records, participant observations, assessment results, and a final training report, including key achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations.
  • Ensure that all training activities are implemented in accordance with Plan International Thailand's policies, including Child Safeguarding, Safeguarding Children and Young People, Gender Equality and Inclusion, and other relevant organizational policies.
  • Perform other related duties as mutually agreed with the SOYEE Programme Manager.

 

4. Key Results/Deliverables

  • Training preparation is completed in collaboration with the Project Coordinator, including review of the project curriculum, session planning, and preparation of training materials and activities prior to the commencement of the training.
  • A total of 48 hours of Life Skills training is successfully delivered in accordance with the approved curriculum and training schedule.
  • Pre-training and post-training assessments are conducted using the assessment tools provided by the project.
  • Participants' attendance, participation, learning progress, and behavioural development are monitored and documented throughout the programme.
  • A final training report is submitted, including a summary of training implementation, participant achievements, assessment results, key observations, challenges encountered, lessons learned, and recommendations for future improvement.

 

5. Duration of Assignment

The assignment is expected to commence on 25 July 2026 and will consist of 48 training hours. Training will be delivered 3–4 days per week, following the project training schedule, over an estimated period of seven (7) weeks.

 

6. Duty Station

Phang Nga (1 position) and Phuket (1 position)

 

7. Reporting Line

The Consultant will report directly to the SOYEE Programme Manager and work closely with the TUI Academy project coordinator at Plan International Thailand.

 

8. Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Human Development, Sociology, Youth Development, Community Development, or another related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in facilitating Life Skills training, youth development programmes, or capacity-building initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering participatory, learner-centered training programmes for young people.
  • Experience working with government agencies, civil society organisations, educational institutions, and/or the private sector will be an advantage.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of adolescent and youth development, experiential learning, and positive youth engagement approaches.
  • Experience working with vulnerable youth or youth employability programmes will be considered an advantage.

 

9. Ethics and Child Safeguarding

The consultant must adhere to Plan International’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct and ensure that all activities promote gender equality, inclusion, and child/youth protection.

 

10. Payment Terms

Payment will be made upon satisfactory completion of deliverables and submission of reports, as per the agreed schedule in the consultant’s contract.

 

11. Confidentiality

All information, materials, and documents shared or produced during the consultancy shall remain confidential and the property of Plan International Thailand.
