English Language Facilitator –

Basic English Communication for Hospitality and Service Work

 

Project: TUI Academy 2 Project

Location: Phang Nga (1 position) and Phuket (1 position), Thailand

Implementing Agency: Plan International Thailand

Expected Start Date: 25 July 2026 (Phang Nga) and 27 July 2026 (Phuket)

Duration: 60 hours

 

1. Background

The TUI Academy 2 Project is implemented by Plan International Thailand with support from TUI Care Foundation to enhance the employability of vulnerable young women and men in Phang Nga and Phuket through skills development and access to decent employment opportunities in the hospitality and tourism sector.

 

As part of the project, a Basic English Communication for Hospitality and Service Work course will be delivered to equip participants with practical English communication skills required for customer service and workplace interactions. The training aims to strengthen participants’ confidence and ability to communicate effectively in real hospitality and service settings, thereby increasing their readiness for internships and employment.

 

The English Language Facilitator will be responsible for planning and delivering interactive, learner-centered training sessions, developing appropriate teaching materials, assessing participants’ learning progress, and creating a supportive learning environment that enables participants to build practical English communication skills for the workplace.

 

2. Purpose of the Assignment

To design, prepare, and deliver the Basic English Communication for Hospitality and Service Work course for youth participating in the TUI Academy 2 Project. The assignment aims to strengthen participants’ practical English communication skills, enhance their confidence in workplace communication, and improve their readiness for internships and employment in the hospitality and service industry.

 

3. Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities

The English Language Facilitator will be responsible for the following:

  • Design and prepare lesson plans, training materials, and learning activities for the Basic English Communication for Hospitality and Service Work course in accordance with the TUI Academy 2 curriculum and project objectives.
  • Deliver a total of 60 hours of interactive, learner-centred English training to project participants according to the approved training schedule.
  • Conduct pre-training and post-training assessments to evaluate participants' English language proficiency and learning progress.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and participatory learning environment that encourages active engagement and builds participants' confidence in using English in hospitality and service settings.
  • Integrate practical workplace communication, customer service scenarios, role plays, and other experiential learning methods into the training sessions.
  • Monitor participants' attendance, participation, and learning progress, and provide constructive feedback and additional support where appropriate.
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Coordinator and the SOYEE Programme team to ensure smooth implementation of the training programme and timely communication regarding schedules, participant progress, and any emerging issues.
  • Submit lesson plans, attendance records, assessment results, and a final training report, including participant achievements, challenges, and recommendations for future improvement.
  • Ensure that all training activities are implemented in accordance with Plan International Thailand's policies, including Child Safeguarding, Safeguarding Children and Young People, and Gender Equality and Inclusion principles.

 

4. Key Results/Deliverables

  • A complete lesson plan and training materials for the Basic English Communication for Hospitality and Service Work course are developed and submitted before the training begins.
  • A total of 60 hours of English training is successfully delivered in accordance with the approved training schedule.
  • Pre-training and post-training assessments are conducted to measure participants' learning progress and English communication skills.
  • Participants' attendance, learning progress, and performance are monitored and documented throughout the course.

A final training report is submitted, including a summary of training activities, participant attendance, assessment results, key achievements, challenges encountered, and recommendations for future improvement.

 

5. Duration of Assignment

The assignment is expected to commence on 25 July 2026 and will consist of 60 training hours. Training will be delivered 3–4 days per week, following the project training schedule, over an estimated period of seven (7) weeks.

 

6. Duty Station

Phang Nga (1 position) and Phuket (1 position)

 

7. Reporting Line

The Consultant will report directly to the SOYEE Programme Manager and work closely with the TUI Academy project coordinator at Plan International Thailand.

 

8. Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in English, Education, Applied Linguistics, Hospitality, Tourism, or a related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in teaching English or delivering English language training.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in designing and delivering capacity-building or training programmes related to the hospitality, tourism, or hotel industry.
  • Experience in conducting training and capacity-building programmes in collaboration with government agencies, civil society organizations, educational institutions, and/or the private sector.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working with vulnerable youth or youth employment programmes will be considered an advantage.

 

9. Ethics and Child Safeguarding

The consultant must adhere to Plan International’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct and ensure that all activities promote gender equality, inclusion, and child/youth protection.

 

10. Payment Terms

Payment will be made upon satisfactory completion of deliverables and submission of reports, as per the agreed schedule in the consultant’s contract.

 

11. Confidentiality

All information, materials, and documents shared or produced during the consultancy shall remain confidential and the property of Plan International Thailand.
