About Free a Girl
Free a Girl is an international organization committed to ending the sexual exploitation of children.
Since its founding in 2008, Free a Girl has supported the rescue of nearly 10,000 children from sexual
exploitation worldwide.
Free a Girl works together with local partners, law enforcement, governments, shelters and child
protection professionals to identify children at risk, support rescue operations, pursue justice and help
survivors rebuild their lives. Our work focuses on rescue, protection, legal support, aftercare and long
term systemic change.
In Southeast Asia, Free a Girl has specialized programs focused on the protection of children from
sexual exploitation, including Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC), child trafficking and abuse
by local and international offenders. In Thailand, this work is carried out within The Scientia Program,
in close cooperation with experienced local and regional partners.

Job Description
Free a Girl is seeking a strong and experienced Country Lead / Lead Investigator to lead and further
develop its Thailand-based work within The Scientia Program. The Country Lead / Lead Investigator will
be responsible for overseeing Free a Girl’s operational presence in Thailand, with a focus on child
protection, investigations, rescue support, partner coordination and program development.
This is a hands-on leadership role. As Free a Girl’s Thailand team is still small, the Country Lead / Lead
Investigator will not only manage and coordinate the program, but will also actively contribute to
investigations and case development. The role therefore requires both strong operational leadership
and solid investigative experience.
The Country Lead / Lead Investigator will provide leadership to a small multidisciplinary team, including
investigators and social workers, and will ensure that all activities are carried out in line with Free a
Girl’s mission, safeguarding standards, legal requirements and child protection principles.
The role requires a strong combination of operational leadership, investigative understanding, partner
management, strategic thinking and emotional resilience. The Country Lead / Lead Investigator will
work closely with local law enforcement, child protection authorities, shelters, hospitals, NGOs and
regional partners to ensure that children at risk are identified, protected and connected to appropriate
care and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee Free a Girl’s Thailand-based operation.
- Act as Lead Investigator for Thailand-based cases and actively conduct investigations when required.
- Identify, develop and follow up on cases involving the sexual exploitation of children, including
OSEC, child trafficking and cases involving local or international offenders.
- Gather, analyze and document information to support case development, rescue planning and law enforcement action.
- Manage and support a small multidisciplinary team, including investigators and social workers.
- Coordinate closely with law enforcement, child protection authorities, shelters, hospitals and partner organizations.
- Support the planning and coordination of rescue and relief operations, ensuring children receive
immediate protection and trauma-informed care.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Thai authorities, local NGOs, government agencies and regional partners.
- Ensure all investigations and operations are conducted in line with legal, ethical, safeguarding and
child protection standards.
- Oversee case documentation, internal reporting, donor/program updates and operational follow up.
- Manage the Thailand country budget in close cooperation with Free a Girl’s regional and
international leadership.
- Identify operational risks and ensure appropriate risk management, safety protocols and escalation
procedures are in place.
- Contribute to the strategic development of Free a Girl’s Thailand program and its role within the wider Southeast Asia region.
- Report regularly to the Regional Manager and coordinate closely with Free a Girl USA and
international leadership.
Requirements
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant professional experience in child protection, anti-trafficking,
investigations, law enforcement cooperation, international NGOs or a related field.
- Proven investigative experience, ideally in cases related to child exploitation, human trafficking, organized crime, online exploitation or victim identification.
- Proven experience managing teams, projects or country-level operations.
- Strong understanding of child protection, human trafficking, sexual exploitation of children and/or Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC).
- Existing professional network in Thailand among law enforcement, child protection actors, government agencies, shelters, NGOs or relevant institutions.
- Ability and willingness to combine strategic leadership with hands-on investigative work.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide a small team working in complex, sensitive and high-pressure situations.
- Excellent judgment, discretion and emotional resilience when working with highly sensitive cases and material.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including local authorities, international partners and internal teams.
- Strong written and spoken English; fluency in Thai is essential.
- Strong reporting, planning and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel within Thailand and occasionally within the Southeast Asia region.
- Deep commitment to the protection, dignity and rights of children.
- Ability to work in line with Free a Girl’s safeguarding standards, ethical principles and survivor centered approach.
