About Free a Girl

Free a Girl is an international organization committed to ending the sexual exploitation of children. Since its founding in 2008, Free a Girl has supported the rescue of nearly 10,000 children from sexual exploitation worldwide and works closely with local partners, law enforcement, governments, and survivor-centered organizations to rescue children, pursue justice, and support long-term recovery.

In Thailand, Free a Girl is part of The Scientia Program, a specialized child protection program focused on identifying and supporting child victims of Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC). The program brings together experienced partners, investigators, social workers, law enforcement, and child protection professionals to ensure that children at risk are identified, rescued, and connected to immediate and long-term care.

Job Description

Free a Girl is seeking a qualified and licensed Social Worker to join its Thailand-based work within The Scientia Program. The Social Worker will play a key role in supporting the rescue, relief, and recovery of child victims of Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC), working closely with Thai child protection actors, law enforcement, shelters, hospitals, partner organizations, and the investigation team.

This is a child protection and victim support role focused on ensuring that every child receives immediate, dignified, and trauma-informed care before, during, and after rescue operations. The Social Worker will help stabilize victims, build trust, assess physical and emotional needs, support safe referrals, and contribute to ongoing recovery and reintegration processes.

The Social Worker may support initial interviews when appropriate and in line with child protection standards. While the primary focus will be on Thailand-based cases, the role may also involve supporting regional cases or sharing expertise with teams in other countries when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with law enforcement, investigators, and NGOs to support and initiate rescue operations
• Respond rapidly to high-risk or ongoing abuse cases in collaboration with investigation teams
• Provide immediate, trauma-informed care to rescued children and survivors
• Conduct initial assessments of physical, emotional, and psychological needs
• Support victims through stabilization, recovery, and reintegration processes
• Liaise with shelters, hospitals, welfare services, and partner organizations
• Maintain accurate case documentation, reports, and case notes
• Ensure strict adherence to safeguarding and child protection standards
• Contribute to national victim identification, referral, and support networks

Requirements

• Degree in Social Work, Child Protection, or related field
• Social work certification with valid license registration
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience working with vulnerable children
• Existing professional network in welfare, rescue, or protection agencies in Thailand
• Strong ability to work under pressure and respond rapidly to crisis situations
• Flexible, adaptable, and able to work collaboratively
• Strong commitment to justice, teamwork, and child protection
• Valid driver’s license
