Job Title : Senior Research Assistant (Experienced)
Responsible to : Executive Director

Work hours : Full time
Location : Steps office on Ekkamai soi 10, Bangkok, Thailand.
Job summary :
To support the management, partnerships, education, and communications teams with high-quality, policy-focused research, analysis and reporting that inform disability and employment policy, organisational practice, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities - Operations
- Support the Executive Director with day-to-day research and operations, and oversee the Centre when the ED is out of the office.
- Respond to and track internal requests from management, partnerships, inclusion, education and communications teams.
- Maintain project trackers, timelines and shared workplans, monitoring progress against milestones and flagging risks or delays.
- Ensure project documents, ethics approvals, and research files are stored systematically in shared drives with clear version control and access.
- Prepare meeting agendas and materials, take notes and action points, and circulate summaries and follow-up items.
- General administrative duties to support daily operations.
Key Responsibilities - Research and Policy
- Design and contribute to policy-relevant research projects aligned with NWRC’s strategic themes (e.g. neurodiversity at work, inclusive education-to-employment pathways, disability policy and practice)
- Conduct literature reviews, desk research, and policy scans, and summarise findings into clear, actionable briefs.
- Lead and support high-quality data collection, including developing tools (surveys, interview and focus group guides), ensuring ethical and PDPA-compliant practice, safeguarding participants and maintaining organised, secure data systems.
- Plan and coordinate interviews, surveys, and focus groups, including permissions, ethics, logistics, and partner liaison.
- Manage and analyse qualitative and quantitative data (e.g. surveys, interviews, focus groups, case studies) for reports, publications, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Draft and edit research reports, policy briefs, and other outputs in both Thai and English for diverse audiences.
- Provide guidance and quality assurance for junior researchers, interns, and assistants (e.g. reviewing literature reviews, interview guides, transcripts, and draft reports).
- Prepare research-related materials for grant and funding submissions to agencies and foundations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant research, policy, and practice and share key insights with the wider team.
Qualifications and experience
- A Masters degree in a related field of research (e.g. social sciences, public policy, disability studies, psychology, education, or related area) is essential.
- At least 5 years’ relevant work experience, ideally in research, policy analysis, programme evaluation, or a related field.
- Familiarity with the disability and policy landscape in Thailand and/or ASEAN is highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience conducting literature reviews, designing and implementing research, and using qualitative and/or quantitative methods.
- Ability to translate research findings into clear, accessible messages for non-specialist audiences, including caregivers and policymakers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Thai and English
- Strong data collection, management and analysis skills, with confidence using digital tools for surveys, spreadsheets and data analysis (e.g. Qualtrics and Excel/Google Sheets; experience with additional analysis software is an advantage)
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities, with strong time-management skills and the ability to work to deadlines across multiple projects.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and external stakeholders (government, NGOs, private sector, community organisations) and to represent the Centre in a professional manner.
- Commitment to disability inclusion and rights; lived experience of disability or neurodivergence is welcomed and considered an asset.
