The ICRC Regional Delegation in Bangkok seeks to fill the following position:
Armed Forces and Security (FAS) Programme Adviser, based in Bangkok
We are looking for a spirited team player with a can-do attitude to join our dynamic team.
The FAS Programme Adviser will support the Management and MAG/PGE Delegate in implementing and monitoring the Armed Forces and Security (FAS) programme, maintaining relationships with military, police, and security authorities, and contributing to the ICRC’s mission in the region.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
External:
· Represent the ICRC in dialogue with military and security forces in the assigned contexts,Thailand
· Organize, conduct, and follow up dissemination activities on International Humanitarian Law (IHL), International Human Rights Law (IHRL), and ICRC activities.
· Develop and maintain strategic contacts with military and relevant stakeholders.
· Support IHL integration initiatives within military institutions.
Internal:
· Support the MAG/PGE Delegate in drafting and implementing FAS strategies aligned with the delegation’s priorities.
· Monitor the political and security context and maintain updated mapping of military and law enforcement agencies.
· Draft strategic/legal analysis relevant to the ICRC’s thematic interests.
· Oversee administrative tasks, reporting, and unit budget follow-up.
· Provide translation and interpretation services (English-Thai / Thai-English) for documents and meetings.
· Represent the MAG/PGE Delegate in his/her absence.
· Support the delegation with FAS-related advice and initiatives.
YOUR PROFILE:
Certifications / Education
- Military/police or civil servant background is an asset
- University degree or professional diploma.
- Legal studies an asset.
- Fluent in English and Thai; another language an asset.
- Computer proficient.
Professional Experience
- 3–5 years of professional experience
- Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment a must.
Desired profile and skills
- Strongly motivated by humanitarian work
- Able to work under pressure in a potentially dangerous environment
