Terms of Reference

Research and post survey of water quality monitoring ,

water consumption and biodiversity survey at Ayutthaya Province

 

Supervised by:            Youth Water Gaudian Manager

Work location:             Youth Water Gaudian Project ,  Kanom Jeen Canal  , Ayutthaya Province

Duration:                      3 months

 

1. Background of consultancy assignment/ project

In October 2021, WWF-Foundation began implementing a freshwater conservation project in the Kanom Jeen Canal , which is one of the most important freshwater ecosystems in Central Thailand. The project is funded by Nestle and aims to build the capacity of the local community to implement sustainable wetland management, including developing management plans and resource use agreements. The project will also work to engage local/provincial government institutions in implementing community resource agreements. Based on this model, the project aims to promote community-based management planning in other wetland areas in Thailand.

One of the main project activities is to update and collect baseline data on biodiversity and water quality to inform and guide management and conservation activities and now the project implantation past 2 years need to be have post survey on water quality monitoring, water consumption and biodiversity survey and another important task is to complete the OECM pilot site.  

The Kanom Jeen Canal area Located in Sana District , Ayutthaya Province with an area length ​​14 km. with valuable wood and a restricted plant and  wild animals. and more than 30 different species of birds migrate from the cold regions.

 

2. Objective of the consultancy  

The consultant will:

  1. Collect post survey of water quality monitoring and water consumption in the Kanom Jeen Canal , project site .
  2. Collect post survey of biodiversity survey such as fish,plant and bird.

 

3. Methodology

This study will apply various qualitative and quantitative research methods, including but not limited to individual interviews, direct observations, focus group discussion, and document reviews (reports and project documents).

 

4.  Outputs/deliverables of performance and time schedule

The consultant will be in charge of producing the following outputs within the timeline below.

 

5. Timeline

The consultant or Third party hiring period will be start on 1 January – 31 March 2025  ( 3 months )  and the final report will be submit on 15 of April  2025 .
