Role Overview

The Learning and Development (L&D) Manager is responsible for driving forward the organization’s commitment to building a learning organization. This role ensures that employees at all levels have access to the training, resources, and development opportunities necessary to enhance their skills, improve performance, advance their careers and enable the organization to deliver its core mission.

The L&D Manager works closely with HR & Administrative Director, Country HR Managers, Executive team members and Country Representative to foster a culture of continuous learning and to stimulate the exchange of ideas and transfer of new and existing knowledge across the organization.  Through effective leadership and innovative approaches, the L&D Manager plays a key role in enabling a learning environment and developing a highly skilled, engaged, and agile workforce that contributes to the organization’s success.

 

Main Responsibilities

Onboarding

  • Ensure proper onboarding for all new joiners and Line Managers including country offices 
  • Initiate and ensure positive onboarding culture within the organization              
  • Develop e learning portal and learning tools for new joiners to be able to assess all onboarding materials, aligned with materials included in new onboarding framework
  • Establishment of a buddy system to ensure assignment of a buddy to help new starters navigate the first few weeks
  • Support country HR responsible to be able to implement new onboarding at country level
  • Ensure information about the company’s culture, values, history and structure as well as relevant policies and procedures are regular updated and included in onboarding framework

 

Plan, implement L&D strategy 

  • Work together with COO and HR and Administrative Director to ensure the whole of CPI aligns with L&D strategy
  • Be the focal point for the organization’s learning & development effort
  • Maintain an overview of organizational learning & development opportunities available to staff and subsequent take up.
  • Coordinate and communicate all learning & development opportunities available to staff as well as application and/or selection process if applicable
  • Lead the monitoring and evaluation of all current and new learning & development opportunities.
  • Initiate and support to HQ and Country team on L&D budgeting
  • Keep all competency framework training resources up to date and in alignment with organizational learning & development priorities.
  • Assist with the application process, review and approval of personal learning development opportunities

 

Training Program Development

  • Source and schedule and/or design and deliver an organizational wide training schedule, based on organizational learning & development priorities
  • Design, develop, and cultivate a range of learning resources, including online courses, workshops, seminars, webinars, e-learning modules, and other innovative learning solutions as required and in alignment with organizational learning & development priorities
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create comprehensive training content that meets the unique requirements of various departments, roles, and levels as required and in alignment with organizational learning & development priorities
  • Deliver engaging training sessions, workshops, and presentations either in-person or through virtual platforms, ensuring active participation and knowledge retention as required and in alignment with organizational learning & development priorities.
  • Maintain and develop organizational LMS

 

Enabling Experience & Knowledge Transfer

  • Work with line managers to develop opportunities to enhance workplace learning and ‘on the job learning’ amongst teams
  • Develop and schedule bridging activities between teams and projects to facilitate cross-functional learning
  • Coordinate and/or support staff led informal lunchtime sharing sessions
  • Assist in the development of staff led, internally focused cross functional working groups.

 

Fostering a learning environment

  • Source and schedule and/or design and deliver regular training sessions for managers in mentoring & coaching skills
  • Source and schedule and/or design and deliver regular training sessions for all staff in psychological safety
  • Support managers to create, develop and maintain individual development plans (IDPs) for employees, focusing on career growth and skills enhancement by assisting with the sourcing of external learning opportunities as required and based on individual needs.

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Any degree holder, preferred specific qualification in human resources management.
  • Previous experience (at least 3 years) in human resource management especially in learning and development
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Excellent planning & coordination skills
  • Excellent communication skill and presentation skill
  • Excellent team member with experience of working diverse work group
  • Good Facilitation skill
  • Good mentoring &/or coaching skills
  • Experience of developing in person and online learning content (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of monitoring & evaluating learning and development activities
  • Mature and strong personality
  • High level of work commitment
