Job Overview

Job Summary

Senior Public Health Officer will be focal person for coordinating ethnic and migrant Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and working closely with the Joint Information Coordination Centre (JICC). The role involves assisting the JICC in data collection, analyzing and presenting data, evaluating outcomes related to diseases surveillance, and disease control and prevention.

JICC Overview

The Joint Information Coordination Centre (JICC) is an initiative of the Thai Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), dedicated to addressing border health issues on the Thailand-Myanmar border. The JICC center located in the Mae Sot Hospital. The primary objectives of the JICC include comprehensive knowledge management in health, focusing on documenting disease outbreak events, profiling prominent public health events, cataloging profiles of key actors and organizations, and managing health data with a specific focus on malaria, tuberculosis (TB), and the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI). By centralizing and analyzing health information, the JICC aims to enhance disease surveillance, control, and prevention efforts in the border region.

Responsibilities

Job Specifics

A. Roles and Responsibility: Coordination & Collaboration: – 50 %

  • Work in coordination with all technical staffs at SNF and MTC
  • Serve as SNF focal person for all internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist SNF in the development of training courses for public health professionals on epidemiological surveillance, outbreak investigation, and improvement of data management.
  • Coordinate with Thai Public health entities in conducting field investigations of public health events, when required by the specific health situation.
  • Serve as a liaison between SNF and Thai Public Health entities.
  • Facilitate and coordinate with relevant sectors for cross-border public health activities including patient referral, supply logistics and immunization
  • Organize and facilitate information sharing and coordination activities among stakeholders and academic sectors
  • Documents and summarize meeting and training records and report to SNF

 

B. Roles and Responsibilities: Documentation & Reporting: – 50 %

  • Gather health data from various sources including ethnic and migrant local CSOs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry to the health databases of JICC.
  • Assist the JICC in analyzing health data to identify trends and patterns.
  • Assist the JICC in prepare and present data reports and visualizations for various audiences.
  • Contribute the JICC to the development of data-driven strategies for disease control and prevention.
  • Assist the JICC to prepare regular progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist the JICC to document best practices and lessons learned from various health data sources
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards.

  • Proven ability to perform above duties
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in health science, social science, computer science and other related fields

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in health data management, analysis, and coordination,
  • Experience working with ethnic, migrant populations and local CSOs,
  • Familiarity with disease surveillance, control, and prevention activities.
  • Experience in public health responses in complex emergency and humanitarian crisis situation

 

Skills/Knowledge/Aptitude

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.

 

  • Knowledge of the communicable and non-communicable disease profile in the Thailand-Myanmar region
  • Experience in data analysis and interpretation related disease outbreaks
  • Demonstrated knowledge in implementation of public health surveillance activities

Language(s)

  • Good commend of written and verbal in Thai and English
  • Good commend of written and verbal in Burmese

Legal Status

  • Must have legal stay permit in Thailand
  • Have Driver License
