Job title: Grant Assistant

Location: Mae Sot . Tak Province

Contract: Full time

 

Introduction


The Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) is a field station attached to the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. It is part of the Mahidol Oxford Research Unit (MORU) which is a collaborative effort between Mahidol and Oxford Universities, and is part-funded by a UK charity, the Wellcome Trust. SMRU’s aims are to:

i. Treat and care for patients with malaria.

ii. Undertake research into malaria in this area in order to determine the best methods of prevention and treatment.

iii. To advise on the treatment and the control of malaria in the South East Asia region and more widely.

 

Supervisor:                Grant Manager

Supervisee:                None

 

Responsible for:

Under the direct supervision of the Grants Manager, the Grants Officer will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Grants Manager in order to assist operation and support units. Duties will include gathering needed information for the Grant Manager, maintaining grant files and tracking documents, scheduling and organizing regular grant meetings, supporting the Grants and Finance teams in processing proposals and agreements.

 

Job Specific

1. Maintain and update all hard and soft copy of grants-related files.

2. Communicate among SMRU and external organizations (GO, NGOs) for information inquiry for programmatic, financial, and stock reports including malaria and TB projects.

3. Verify and entry data for Grant Manager to prepare grants-related reports.

4. Assist high level procurement issues.

5. Assist Grant Manager for budget analysis.

6. Assist the translation of grants-related documents.

7. Support and coordinate SMRU donors and guest visit.

8. Support and coordinate for SMRU meetings, workshops, training organizing as needed.

9. Assist key staffs documentation related to traveling and accommodation.

10.To perform other duties as requested.

 

Position Requirement

Education

- University degree in Accounting,Finance, Business Administration or related subjects.

 

Work Experience

- Minimum 2 years of relevant scope of work.

 

Skills

- Mature, polite and a team player is essential.

- Microsoft office and accounting programs

- Culturally sensitive with the ability to work with a multi or cross cultural team.

 

Languages and other

- Good command of written and verbal English and Thai

- Burmese and Karen language skills would be an asset

- Understanding of the situation along the Thailand-Burma border and in- side Burma
