Data Analysis Expert for USAID Enhance Activity

 

The USAID-funded Enhance Activity in Thailand, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development (International Development Jobs - Tetra Tech), is currently accepting expressions of interest for Data Analysis Expert. The Expert will work closely with members of the technical team based in the main office in Bangkok. The assignment will be completed between October 16, 2023 and December 31, 2023. The level of effort for this assignment is 45 days.

 

Project Summary:

The USAID Enhance Activity (hereafter referred to as USAID Enhance or the Activity) aims to strengthen citizen-centric local governance in Thailand. Interventions under this Activity will lead towards more accountable and responsive local governance, strengthened partnership among local stakeholders and government agencies in support of plans for innovation, and promote successful efforts to other localities. To effectively manage the upcoming surge of information and data stemming from USAID Enhance activities, USAID Enhance is looking for a short-term data analysis expert to support data analysis responsibilities encompassing database input, quality assurance, tool design, and visualization.

 

Responsibilities:

The Data Analysis Expert will support the timely and accurate input of USAID Enhance data and information into the Activity database, ensure the correctness and reliability of the data, and contribute to the generation of data visualizations to aid USAID Enhance activities and deliverables. The Data Analysis Expert will undertake the following tasks:

 

1. Data Collection Tool Design

  • Collaborate with the program and admin & finance teams of USAID Enhance to design data collection tools, including registration, event, and workshop forms within the Enhance database.
  • Ensure the data collection tools capture all necessary information and are user-friendly for data entry.

 

2. Database Input and Quality Assurance

  • Facilitate the accurate and timely input of data from USAID Enhance events/workshops/activities into the Activity database.
  • Conduct monthly spot checks to verify the correctness and accuracy of the data collected from the program team.
  • Identify and rectify any data inconsistencies, errors, or gaps in collaboration with the program team.

 

3. Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis

  • Utilize statistical techniques to analyze quantitative data sets, identifying trends, correlations, and patterns.
  • Conduct qualitative analysis of stakeholder interviews, focus group discussions, and narratives using appropriate methodologies.

 

4. Assist in building the schema for the Activity database and provide technical input and expertise in structuring the database to support effective data analysis and reporting.

 

5. Data Visualization

  • Generate various data materials, including data tables, graphics, maps, and other visual aids.
  • Create visualizations that effectively communicate project progress, outcomes, and impact, supporting the upcoming project activities and deliverables.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as data science, statistics, computer science, or a related discipline; masters preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in data analysis, preferably in a similar role or domain. Experience in designing data collection tools and working with databases.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel. Demonstrated strong knowledge of database management and data quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques. Experience in using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar software for data visualization.
  • Experience in statistical analysis tools such as SPSS, or qualitative data analysis software such as ATLAS.ti, would be an advantage. 
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and draw insights. Ability to conduct both quantitative and qualitative analysis accurately.
  • High level of attention to detail to ensure accurate data input, quality assurance, and identification of inconsistencies.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with team members.
  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and manage workload efficiently.
  • Proficiency in English and Thai.
