Program:
The Enhancing Equality in Energy for Southeast Asia activity (“E4SEA Activity”) is a regional program of the U.S. Agency for international Development (USAID) being implemented by CORE International. The E4SEA Activity designs and implements interventions to enhance gender equality in the energy sector in Southeast Asia in two phases.  Phase 1 has been completed and the E4SEA Activity is embarking on its Phase 2 Activities focusing on capacity building, learning, and education which will be conducted from September 2023 to August 2026.  Implementation will occur in Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam and potentially Myanmar and Cambodia.  The work is conducted from a central office in Bangkok, Thailand. The Activity seeks a Communications Specialist to work with the Activity team to support the implementation of a scholarship and internship program. The work includes publicizing the scholarship and internship opportunities, preparing presentations on the status of the program’s implementation, designing graphics for insertion in quarterly and annual reports, and providing talking points for high-level officials.  The Communications Specialist will routinely prepare graphics and other content for social media, reports, presentations, and websites.  This is a is full-time position based in CORE’s office in Bangkok, Thailand near Central Embassy, Phloen Chit. This is an in-office, in-person, full-time position.  The Communications Specialist will be based in Bangkok, Thailand for the duration of the Activity (September 2023-August 2026).  Some travel to regional countries may be required but will be limited.

The Communications Specialist must be results oriented, with demonstrated ability to engage in collaborative problem-solving and teamwork. The Communications Specialist must have excellent writing, graphic design, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Position Description:

CORE International is seeking a qualified Communications Specialist to support this three-year Phase 2 Activity. The Communications Specialist serves the E4SEA team in the preparation of fact sheets, presentations, success story write ups, summary reports, quarterly and annual reports, meeting/event minutes, social media posts, talking points for high level officials, and other communications products and tasks associated with the Activity.   

 

Responsibilities and Reporting Requirements:

  • Support the Activity team in all communications that support the implementation of scholarships and internships aimed at advancing opportunities for women to enter and prosper in energy sector workplaces.
  • Develop communications and outreach materials for specific audiences and stakeholders, including policymakers, private sector leaders, university officials, and the public.
  • Create talking points, briefing materials, briefing books, and information packets for presentations as required by the Activity.
  • Draft press releases, media advisories, success stories, and outreach materials.
  • Develop social media content as requested, such as for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. 
  • Oversee development of visual materials, including infographics and video content.
  • Develop presentations for Activity events, including public workshops, conferences, internal meetings, training programs, and other events.
  • Prepare materials for visits by high-level officials and assist with advance work for event planning including scheduling and material production.
  • Manage online, print, and other communication campaigns to promote the Activity and the Activity’s results.
  • Develop content for external and broad reach.

 

Qualifications, Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive strategic communications/media relations/social media/branding/marketing/content creation for private companies, private foundations, professional associations, universities, NGOs, or donor organizations.
  • Ability to develop culturally and socially sensitive messaging and communicate it to a variety of audiences, including the general public, private sector, public sector, NGOs and other stakeholders and associations.
  • Extensive experience writing, editing, and placing pieces in a variety of print and social media channels. 
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign or similar desktop publishing software, as well as a graphics design software, a plus.
  • Relationships and experience working with partner governments, donors, and/or the private sector in Southeast Asia.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as other software.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Welcome residents with work authorization
