Activity Description:

The purpose of the USAID Partnerships for Green Investment (PGI) activity, hereafter referred to as the “Activity” is employing nature-based solutions across Southeast Asia to achieve greater emissions reductions, climate resilience, biodiversity protection, inclusiveness, and benefit sharing. Specifically, this Activity will advance systemic change in the agricultural, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) sector in the region to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at meaningful scale through inclusive and sustainable approaches, accelerating the region’s transition to net zero economies. In addition, the activity will improve biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and human well-being as additional outcomes.

 

Candidates are expected to have some experience in the project’s three core objectives: 

1. Increase sustainable and scalable investments in low emission land use and AFOLU supply chains, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience;
2. Promote the adoption and/or implementation of credible environmental, social, and

 governance (ESG) standards for low emission, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience investments; and

3. Improve inclusive and equitable benefit sharing to local communities and smallholders from values generated by these investments and standards.

 

Deloitte is seeking technical specialists based in Thailand or another country covered by USAID's Bangkok-based Regional Development Mission for Asia (RDMA), including Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, and Vietnam. Applicants should be mid- to senior-level experts with experience in one or more of the following technical areas:

• AFOLU Supply Chains
• Climate/ Nature Finance
• Climate Risk Analysis
• Investment Mobilization for Environmental Activities
• ESG Standards
• Environmental Markets
• Biodiversity Conservation
• Sustainable Agribusiness
• Nature Based Solutions
• Inclusive and Equitable Benefit Sharing

 

General Qualifications and Expectation Sought Across Technical Positions:

• Degree in finance, economics, environmental studies, public policy, and business administration or other relevant field. Advanced degree preferred.  
• 5+ years of exceptional experience working in the climate finance sector; climate change mitigation and adaptation; AFOLU supply chains; green investment; nature conservation; or similar
• Experience working in Thailand and/or other regional countries strongly preferred  
• Knowledge of and experience working with key climate finance institutions include but not limited to: Green Climate Fund, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Global Environment Facility, etc.
• Familiarity with Paris Agreement Article 6 and country level National Determined Contribution frameworks  
• Experience with green banking tools, like net-zero target setting, and green financial instruments, like green bonds and carbon markets
• Experience leading or working as a USAID or other donor-funded teams
• Excellent communication skills in English required
• Demonstrates a record of successful performance in at least one of the technical areas listed above

 

Location:

Candidates will be based locally in Thailand or another country in the region.
