Oceans Project Associate Coordinator (Fixed Term 1 Year)

The  Oceans Project Associate Coordinator is tasked with providing comprehensive assistance to Oceans campaign initiatives, spanning both national and regional-global scopes. These campaign projects are focused on tackling challenges concerning coastal communities, safeguarding the oceans, and combating the scourge of illegal fishing.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Seize the initiative and/or assume co-leadership responsibilities in the execution of campaign concepts and strategies within the Ocean Defender project, while fostering a collaborative partnership with both the Greenpeace Southeast Asia Oceans team and the GPTH Programme team.
  • Ensure consistent communication with the Oceans Campaigner regarding campaign endeavors, encompassing the compilation of reports and formulation of operational plans, while remaining receptive to the need for any requisite modifications to tactics or strategies.
  • Establish alliances and/or cultivate supportive relationships with pertinent stakeholders, grassroots organizations, academic and professional entities, as well as other parties pinpointed through strategic planning efforts.
  • Maintain a consistent connection with the coastal community while monitoring ongoing issues, thereby facilitating the development of project implementation strategies and the coordination of relevant events.

 

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience within an environmental or activist organization, with a particular emphasis on engagement with ocean-related matters, is preferable.
  • Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in disciplines such as Political Science, Sociology & Anthropology, Environmental Studies, or a commensurate field, or an equivalent background gained through involvement in ocean-related matters or community mobilization, is required.
