Teacher Trainer (Mae Sot)

 

Mobile Education Partnerships (MEP) have a vacancy for one full-time trainer to join a small team working with teachers in the Migrant Learning Centres in and around Mae Sot. The project runs for 6 months from September 2023 to March 2024 and focuses on teacher training for new or inexperienced teachers.

  • Start date 1st September 2023
  • Stipend: 15,000THB per month [this is a stipend of 14,000thb plus 1,000thb allowances to support travel (petrol & tax), communications (SIM card) & other requirements.

 

Background

MEP have been working in Mae Sot for over 20 years as an education charity who support victims of human rights violations living on the Thai/Myanmar border. We train teachers to provide high quality education for migrant and refugee children through in-service training and mentoring.

 

Project

The programme will consist of a series of (1) Teaching Skills workshops followed by (2) extended in-class mentoring across a 6-month period. MEP also provide the teachers with a Cambridge English course leading to an internationally recognised certificate. Our ultimate aim is to establish a team of 6 local trainers to deliver in-school teacher training for new teachers.

 

Position

We are looking for a teacher trainer to work closely and in partnership with our Lead Trainer to:

  • Prepare and deliver a series of teacher training workshops for teachers new to the profession
  • Provide regular follow-up mentoring visits to teachers in MLCs in Mae Sot / Mae Pa area and offer practical support, advice and training in teaching skills
  • To work in close partnership with the Lead trainer in planning and preparing good quality training and teaching materials
  • To work in partnership with our Cambridge English teacher and provide support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist in preparing reports. 
  • When needed, assist in areas such as translation, practical knowledge and teaching expertise.

 

Desirable requirements:

  • Teaching qualification and experience
  • Spoken and written Burmese and English
  • An excellent communicator, able to work as a member of a team.
  • Travel to local schools by Motorcycle
