Organization Background

DtonNaam serves vulnerable Thai male and trans sexworkers as they leave prostitution and helps them rebuild their lives holistically by providing education, healthcare, therapy, and job training. Our vision is for these male and transgender sex workers (and those at-risk) to find healthier alternatives, enabling them to pursue their personal dreams and careers. 

A Unique Opportunity

Dton Naam is currently seeking an exceptional and dynamic leader to become the next Director, whose responsibilities include overseeing the broader operational activities of Dton Naam Foundation, and its social business, a local job training café, both based in Bangkok, Thailand. 

 

The Director’s primary responsibilities will involve working closely with the local Thai team, the US and the Thai Board of Directors to oversee and expand its clinical, educational, vocational, and outreach programs while developing and executing the Dton Naam fundraising and future strategies to ensure long-term sustainability and effective systemic change.

Main Job Details:

The Director is responsible for the management and oversight of DtonNaam Foundation and its team. This includes the job training café, staff, volunteers and the execution of its mission and vision. The Director needs to follow the values and policies of Dton Naam and help each staff member contribute to the overall vision and goals despite staff’s various roles. The Director will be accountable to the Executive Director (ED) and the US & Thai Boards.

Key Responsibilities:
Organizational Management

  • Lead and encourage all DN staff and volunteers, providing them with ongoing guidance, support, spiritual mentorship, and follow through. Facilitate relevant trainings to help staff grow interpersonally and in their specific job descriptions

  • Hire, train, and handle discipline and termination of subordinate employees. Facilitate conflict resolution when needed. 

  • Assist or conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to sustain, promote, and grow DN’s departmental programs, and services offered to our staff & students.

  • Create and manage the annual calendar of activities such as special events, weekly classes, annual team retreat and similar projects.

  • Conduct weekly staff meetings and one-on-one supervision, documenting outcomes and agreed actions, helping team follow through timely and effectively on individual and joint responsibilities. 

  • Review and edit policies and procedures with staff yearly, ensuring compliance with applicable local Thai and US laws.

  • Maintain files and records as requested by ED and ensure the team is following protocols in maintaining accurate, organized records.

  • Develop a strong rapport with transgender and male clients and participate in activities when appropriate

  • Take initiative to research, network with appropriate resources, other ngo’s and government agencies. Attend government meetings when possible.

  • Grow the US Board as described in the Dton Naam Bylaws.

 

Development and Marketing

  • Prepare annual budget for Board’s approval and feedback; Ensure that monthly financial reports are accurate and submitted to the Board and Thai Government for review on a timely basis.

  • Oversee yearly Activity Report to be submitted to Thai Government

  • Organize Thai Board meetings location and place and drafting and delivering correspondence such as agendas, minutes, and transcripts.

  • Oversee DN’s annual budget and work closely with the Office Manager to make sure monthly and quarterly accounts are in alignment with budget.

  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to support the goals, objectives, and activities of Dton Naam.

  • Develop long-lasting and meaningful donor relationships that can sustain Dton Naam in the future.

  • Manage internal processes for tracking donors, prospects, sponsors and funding, including maintaining accurate records of relationships, deadlines, and funding requirements and ensuring compliance with applicable reporting guidelines.

  • Plan and execute fundraising and community awareness events.

  • Research and write, or supervise, the preparation of grant applications.

  • Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with media and use them to communicate the message of Dton Naam, and promote appropriate events.

  • Work with internal teams to implement social media and online communication strategy.

  • Ensure that all marketing and fund development materials adhere to the organization’s desired message, branding, image and safety procedures.

  • Travel to off-site meetings, trainings, and events as required.

Preferred Experience: 

  • Knowledge and experience as a leader within a Not-for-profit/micro enterprising business model. 

  • Experience in managing cross-cultural teams from various educational levels.  

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in a related degree from a four-year accredited university.  Master’s degree preferred

  • Experience in development, fundraising, and public relations.

  • Ability to work under challenging conditions and in difficult situations with sensitivity and respect.

  • Passion for serving vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. Knowledge of human trafficking preferred but not required

  • Bi-lingual

  • Ability to create and present ideas and budgets in a variety of formats.

  • Ability to maintain confidential record

Other Details:

  • This job is located in the central part of Bangkok, Thailand

  • Salary based on applicant’s education, skills and experience

  • This is a challenging yet worthwhile role, requiring five days per week; full time hours.
