Position Title : General Accountant
Department : Finance and Information Technology
Work location : Bangkok, Thailand
Report to : Senior General Accountant
Technically report to : N/A Supervises : N/A
Employment duration : 12-month with possibility for extension
I. Background
WWF Thailand is one of the world’s leading conservation organizations and was founded 60 years ago with headquarters in Switzerland. WWF Thailand is a registered International NGO and has been operating as a Program Office in Thailand since 1995. We are entering an exciting period of expansion due to expected new projects. Thus, we are expanding the Finance Unit which is the backbone to an efficient and competitive organization. The general accountant will play an important role within the Finance Unit to ensure accurate and timely accounting information and to support the accounting and finance needs of a growing office.
II. Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for account payables such as review payments, attending to advance requests and acquittals.
- Responsible for an intercompany transaction both inbound and outbound including timely prepare intercompany charging out to related office.
- Monitoring call for fund per agreement schedule.
- Prepare and accord accruals to ensure compliance of policy prior closings ledger.
- Responsible for prepare monthly reconciliation including account payable reconciliation and part of balance sheet reconciliation.
- Support chief accountant for preparation of quarterly reporting
- Prepare Expense reconciliations and journal vouchers if require
- Ensure compliance are in place (policy and procedure)
- Maintain filing system for financial documents
- Support both internal, external audits and project audit
- Other ad-hoc tasks as and when assigned.
- Back-up GA Income as and when require by HOF
III. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business management, business administration, or in relevant fields.
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in Accounting. Additional experience in Project Accounting / Project Finance is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Thailand finance and accounting system, standards, practices and taxation.
- Working knowledge in a non-profit organization is preferred.
- Experienced in using Accounting Software: Oracle.
- Good command of written and spoken English is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, people-oriented, and a team player.
- Accurate and detail-oriented and works with a sense of urgency to reach objectives
- Acts with professionalism and maturity.
IV. Working Relationships
Internal
- Ensure integrity of data input. Monitor, advise staffs to ensure that all expense claim comply with WWF policies and procedures as well as donor policies and procedures
- Ensuring that WWF Thailand staff are aware of their burn rate on spending, remaining balance and flag any issues to be resolved in time by generating monthly reports on their spending
External
- Commercial Banks – Process bank transfer and attend to all other banking matters.
- Supplier or Vendor – Coordinate document support for payment.
- Donors and/or Auditors – Coordinate and communicate with donors and responding to donor requests for reporting and audit. Coordinate with audit teams to ensure closure of accounts.
