Job title: Vaccination Coordinator

Department: Medical Department

Supervisor: Head of clinical department / designated clinical team member

Supervisee: Monitoring & Evaluation staff

Location: Mae Ramat, Tak Province

The Borderland Health Foundation (BHF) is a non-for-profit, non-religious and non-political organization, registered in Thailand. BHF links to field stations of the Mahidol-Oxford University Research Unit (SMRU Clinics) which are located in Mae Sot, Mae Ramat, Phro Phra, Tha Song Yang and Umphang districts in Tak province, Thailand. BHF works with marginalized populations along Thailand-Myanmar border by focusing on health care services and public health issues with its focus on malaria, tuberculosis, and maternal and child health.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

The Vaccine Coordinator is expected to work under supervision of the head of the clinical department (or other designated clinical team member) on assigned tasks, and coordinate activities with heads from other departments (e.g., logistics, finance, administration). Overall tasks are to manage vaccine procurement, storage and cold chain; ensure quality control measure are in place, functioning, and being monitored; support and work together with local staff in the field for vaccines; coordinate with partners such as Office of Thai public health, CBOs, NGOs and other relevant partners for vaccination related issues. The vaccine coordinator will represent BHF in local meetings, support discussion and contribute to building partnership and smooth collaboration and coordination. Additional responsibilities include communication with regional organisations (e.g. UNICEF) and produce reports relevant on vaccine related activities, design monitoring and evaluation plans. There will be regular traveling to coordinate and plan with SMRU/BHF sites.

• Supervise the monitoring and evaluation vaccine staff for:

  o management of the vaccine cold chain

  o vaccine ordering from clinical sites and vaccine delivery to the clinical sites

  o monitoring and evaluation of the EPI, covid and staff vaccine activities

• Coordinate with the clinical teams for vaccine training, updates on national vaccination guidelines

• Communicate with regional organizations such as UNICEF for program activities

• Represent BHF in vaccine related meetings with local governmental and non-governmental organisations

• Ensure vaccine activities are in compliance with SMRU’s policies and procedures e.g. health and safety, security and data protection.

• Other activities as assigned by the organization

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or bachelor degree in public health, nursing, medical science or other majors under medical school.
  • 1-2 year of experience in managing and delivering long-term projects effectively
  • Good command of written and verbal English and Thai
  • Burmese and Karen language skills would be an asset
  • Good teamwork skills, able to build and maintain productive relationship
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Understanding of humanitarian work and sharing the humanitarian values of the organization
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the requirements of day to day work and help colleagues in the organization
  • Understanding of the situation along the Thailand-Burma border and inside Burma
