Main Purpose of the role
This role will identify, develop and deliver impactful and effective establishment of an elephant-friendly network in line with the World Animal Protection’s wildlife campaign objectives. She/he will also work closely with a group of potential founding members through various forms of meetings and workshops. She/he will manage and implement relevant activities and act as an internal focal point for network-related tasks.
Scope of Work:
- Identify and engage with key stakeholders, convening a target group of potential founding members
- Coordinate, plan and implementation of the network strategy and activities
- Convene to catalyse network’s short-term and long-term objectives and participate in network activities including focus group discussions, and capacity building initiatives.
- Support the network’s founding members with training package
- Lead and work with the World Animal Protection’s programme team in facilitating and guiding the network development
- Ensure output and outcome indicators are met
- Coordinate with the programme team to ensure effective implementation
- Travel to elephant venues to strengthen the working relationship and attend meetings
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic planning in engaging network key stakeholders and its members to maximize the network outcomes
- Convene a group of potential founding members to gain more understanding of their gaps, immediate and long-term needs, with an aim to establish a functional network among the group
- Organize a series of meetings and workshops both online and offline with potential founding members to monitor and keep the conversations going through various means
- Facilitate the meetings and workshops for potential founding members, steering and guiding effective discussions to meet the needs of all stakeholders
- Develop a network plan based on meeting and workshop results, consisting of agreed objectives, structure, roles and responsibilities, necessary protocols for future implementation
- Monitoring and evaluation duties which may include developing and adjusting a monthly implementation plan
- Coordinate internally, regularly report and feedback with Thailand and international programme teams for direction and important decision-making
- Act as an internal focal point for network-related tasks, participate and contribute to internal strategic discussions
- Carry out administrative duties as needed including budget management and ensure compliance with World Animal Protection Thailand’s financial policies and Thai laws
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated strong experience in creation and retention of a network, coalition, committee, or similar fields
- Experience in engaging and collaborating with private sector, non-profit sector and governmental bodies
- Experience in capacity building and people empowerment
- Thai citizen and the ability to fluently communicate Thai
- Ability to speak English
- Ability to facilitate virtual and face2face meeting
- Willing to regularly travel upcountry
Preferences
- Knowledge of elephant welfare
- Experience in working in/with the elephant tourism industry
Working hours: 35 hours per week.
