The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) seeks to appoint a:
Title: Communications intern
Reports to: Regional Communications and Advocacy Manager
Duration: July 28 – October 20 with possible extension for an additional 3 months
Purpose:
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest volunteer-based humanitarian network, reaching 150 million people each year through our 189 member National Societies. Together, we act before, during and after disasters and health emergencies to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people. We do so with impartiality as to nationality, race, gender, religious beliefs, class and political opinions.
The IFRC delegation in Southeast Asia provides support to 11 Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (in ASEAN countries plus Timor Leste) to enable in-country capacity building, development programmes and humanitarian response. It is essential that the IFRC is able to provide timely information to National Societies so they can plan and implement programmes, incorporating relevant and timely data from within the regional and global development context. For example, information on trends in programming and funding opportunities, partnership opportunities, learning and knowledge sharing across the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network, and more.
The IFRC Southeast Asia delegation is seeking an intern to support its information sharing process, in particular the creation and production of an internal communication product such as an electronic newsletter that integrates varied information in an efficient and easy-to-digest format, as well as distribution through the creation of targeted databases.
