JOB DESCRIPTION
- Background
As the world's growing population reaches the shortage and unsustainability on food and natural resources, WWF Thailand now launch its (Sustainable Market) Market Transformation Initiatives (MTI) in fisheries, forestry, and agriculture to assist and guide businesses towards a more environmentally sustainable practice. WWF plans to achieve this by engaging with various stakeholders including government agencies, private sectors, standard owners and consumers to influence this change. This position will work on engaging with various financial institutions and regulators to help influence funding and investment towards environmentally sustainable projects.
- Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Initiate and implement work plan of project including manage research on sustainable finance related topics and sustainability disclosure by companies (e.g. SUSBA, SUSREG, RESPOND), including the development of business case studies for finance sector partners and wider finance sector institutions who are engaged in soft commodity businesses.
- Engage with business associations to develop the responsibility guidelines on lending policies with commercial banks to initiate the lending standards of all banks as well as other sustainable finance policies that may follow.
- Organize and facilitate the training in sustainable finance related topics such as ESG, responsible lending, to bankers and various stakeholders in finance sectors to make them practical.
- Speak or participate in discussion panels at national and international public events to present projects, share knowledges, advocate policies and represent WWF. This is not only limited only the sustainable finance works but also include to overview and background of other conservation projects related to the bankable projects e.g. FLR349, DFCD.
- Communicate in partnerships with stakeholders in finance sector and other stakeholders in the region to leverage WWF's finance interests.
- Engage with regulators such as Bank of Thailand, The Stock Exchange of Thailand, and Securities and Exchange Commission Thailand to initiate the national policies and/or guidelines which forces related finance sector to concern the sustainability.
- Engage with private sector to develop the business propositions that aligns with WWF Bankable Nature-based Solutions and establish long-term partnerships and commitments with private sector as part of the process of creating bankable projects to implement at the landscape level (DTL and other focus landscapes of WWF)
- Coordinate extensively with other WWF programme e.g. market, food and forest practices to drive for commitment in creating bankable projects which includes business modelling, business planning, and project feasibility study, and leverage resources within WWF networks to achieve the targets.
- Oversee team members as well as other staffs who have roles and responsibility in the cross-cutting projects (e.g. DFCD) to ensure the progress and deliverables upon timeline.
- Manage budgets of the ongoing projects to ensure prudential spending and deliverables.
- Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in finance, economics, environment management, or in relevant fields.
- 5 years in business administration or finance especially credit and risk management with interest or understanding of sustainability concept.
- 3 years in middle management in finance sector.
- Knowledgeable in Risk Management, Credit Risk, Project Management and Proposal Development.
- Understanding of environmental sustainability relate to business risks and opportunities.
- Fluent in English and Thai.

- Sustainability Transformation Manager - Update the situation on sustainable finance project.

- Commercial Banks - Develop and implement the lending standards for sustainability purpose.
- Regulators and trade associations - Raise awareness and convince to initiate the national policies.
