SENIOR THAI TEACHER/ TRAINER

COERR FOUNDATION or Catholic Office for Emergency Relief and Refugees (COERR), a Thai NGO under the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand (CBCT) was established in 1978 for the purpose of bringing aid to displaced persons in Thailand and those affected by natural disasters.

COERR is urgently looking for experienced personnel to fill the post of Senior Thai Teacher and Teacher Trainer, for Bangkok field office.

LEVEL:  Senior Level

TERMS OF REFERENCE

1. Teach Thai as a Second Language, primarily to children aged 6-17 years

2. Design, plan, prepare and facilitate active and participatory learning experience to enhance students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in Thai language and English, equip the students with skills and understanding of basic mathematics and Thai culture necessary for their future studies in Thai schools.

3. Perform teaching duties to assigned classes: responsible for developing and preparing lesson plans, teaching aids, conducting test, recording the progress and attendance of each student.

4. Provide training to all teaching staff

5. Introduce, conduct and oversee extra-curricular and recreational activities

6. Ensure actively involvement of students in the learning process and promote students’ appropriate behaviors desirable to Thai schools.

7. Collaborate with Education Officer (Child Development), to help students with special needs, and with Assistant Education Services Supervisor to ensure successful Thai school admission of students. Refer cases to relevant specialists when needed.

8. Assist the Senior Education Services supervisor to conduct students/parents orientation before enrolling to Thai Schools.  

9. Perform other duties necessary and relevant to the education needs of students.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Thai nationality

2. Bachelor Degree of Education from a recognized university, ideally with primary education major and at least 6 months of teaching experience, or

3. A degree in any field with at least 2 years of second-language teaching

4. Teacher training skill is preferable.

5. Good command of English.

6. Experience and knowledge about child development/psychology and Thai formal education system is a plus.

7. Open-mindedness, ability to work under pressure and strong team building skills
