Solidaridad is seeking a Program Manager based in Bangkok, Thailand. The role will incorporate management of existing projects, as well as identification and development of new initiatives in line with global and regional Solidaridad strategy.

The role will focus heavily on implementation of a sustainable pineapple initiative involving the use of innovative digital tools to support farmers and enhance transparency in global supply chains. Experience of fruit and/or horticulture supply chains, stakeholders and sustainability issues is therefore and advantage, as is any experience in working with mobile-based digital tools. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring delivery of project outcomes in line with agreed targets, developing workplans and managing project staff and technical experts as well as coordination with partners. Management of budgets and development of reports and communications will also be required.

Key areas of focus for business development are likely to include sugarcane, oil palm, garments & textiles, fruits, soya, aquaculture, dairy and the bioeconomy. The candidate will be required to identify and assess key sustainability challenges, engage with relevant stakeholders, and support development of related projects and strategic solutions by Solidaridad. This will involve engagement with potential partners, financiers and service providers, and subsequently an existing network within focus sectors and the development community is an advantage.

Though Solidaridad has a significant international profile, the organisation is new in Thailand. This role is therefore ideally suited to an ambitious and motivated individual who is willing to show initiative and take a leading role in expanding Solidaridad’s presence in Thailand, whilst contributing to the sustainable growth of the nation in line with Government policy and objectives.

This position is intended for Thai nationals only or those with Thai citizenship and fluency in Thai language. Strong spoken and written proficiency in English is a requirement for this position and the Program Manager will be routinely expected to conduct dialog with international partners as well as produce quality written outputs in English language.

Responsibilities:

• Development and delivery of project workplans in line with deliverables.
• Ensuring implementation of activities against work plans and ensuring quality of deliverables.
• Project budget management and financial reporting.
• Management of project technical staff and consultants.
• Management of partners and project stakeholders.
• Management of service providers, including progress monitoring and contract admin.
• Coordination with Solidaridad Asia HQ and other regional offices as relevant.
• Representing the organisation at events and meetings, including public speaking.
• Support to Country Manager in business development, including research and engagement towards identifying and developing sustainability initiatives in priority sectors/themes in line with Solidaridad regional and global strategy.
• Support to Country Manager in development of proposals, including project budgets.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Post-graduate qualification in a relevant field.
• At least 3 years relevant experience.
• Strong competency in written and spoken English
• Experience in producing quality written outputs.
• Experience and knowledge of agricultural sustainability challenges and solutions is an advantage.
• Experience of operating within a non-profit / development context is an advantage.
• An existing network of relevant stakeholders including Government, private sector, donors and civil society is an advantage

Location: The role will be based in Bangkok. Regular travel for fieldwork within Thailand is a requirement.

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience in line with Solidaridad Asia HR policy.
