BACKGROUND

Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization based in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. BDF's core mission is to provide access to education, health, and social services to the most vulnerable children living in urban slums and construction site camps in Thailand. 

 

Over the last 10 years of grassroots work originating in Chiang Mai, Baan Dek Foundation established key partnerships with construction companies and real estate developers to build sustainable impact in construction site camps and improve the lives and access to basic services of construction workers and their children. 

 

In 2018, BDF and UNICEF Thailand, developed a Framework for Action,  a set of 12 actionable recommendations for construction companies, published in the Building Futures in Thailand.  

Following the publication of this framework for action, BDF developed and piloted with pioneer construction companies practical tools for construction companies to operationalise and ease the integration of the framework for action into companies business activities. Through the recent launch of the Building Social Impact initiative, BDF would like to scale up and reach a wide adoption of this framework and tools in the construction sector. https://www.buildingsocialimpact.org/eng

POSITION SUMMARY

Communication and Social Media Manager will have an essential role in the success of the Building Social Impact Initiative, ensuring its promotion and visibility and contributing to its adoption by the construction sector.

Job Description:

Job Title:                          Communication and Social Media Manager

Type of Contract:            Full-time employment position for 1-year (with possibility of extension)

Responsibilities of the advertised position:

Communication and Social Media Manager is responsible for developing and implementing marketing communication strategies and comprehensive supporting plans to achieve audience specific marketing and communication goals linked with Baan Dek Foundation (BDF). The person manages the communication team, coordinates and prioritizes the team’s workload. The person works closely with various staff to carry out the plans for the digital marketing communication strategies. He/she is responsible for the management and development of the BDF communication materials, websites and social media platforms. He/she is leading the development of targeted communication and marketing campaigns to reach targeted audiences and promote the BDF. In her/his role, interest and skills of visual communication creation, such as video and web design will be an important asset. 

Role and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Coordinate all internal and external communication responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the communication team, internal and external stakeholders to support the organization's priorities.

  • Coordinate and identify media and content, secure appropriate reviews and approvals, and edit as needed.

  • Works with other departments to research, obtain material and organize the content of written communications and create necessary materials to support other departments in the foundation.

  • Supervise Communication Team, interns, volunteers, other collaborators including task prioritization, provide feedback and suggestions. 

  • Track and provide approvals for departmental invoices (together with the Finance department).

  • Clarify the communication strategy and plan for BDF.

 

  1.  Communication and Digital Marketing

  • Use market research, develop and translate concise and quantifiable goals into marketing communication strategies and activities.

  • Ensure communication consistency  

  • Create the contents in English and Thai.

  • Implement comprehensive marketing communication plans for assigned audiences in a precise effective manner, to include writing, editing, designing, obtaining approvals, managing photo sessions, etc.

  • Organize and coordinate communication campaigns, launch events, webinars.

  • Manage the websites and websites’ tracking.

 

  1. Managing Social Media

  • Manage social media platforms for BDF, BSI and Dao

  • Create social media strategies

  • Plan and design social media calendars for BDF, BSI and Dao

  • Prepare and publish the content on social media (with the support of content producer)

  • Analyze social media platforms and make improvements 

  • Attend the social media platforms in active way increasing engagement

  • Deal with social media ads/campaigns if needed

 

  1. Other Design Skills

  • Video edition.

  • Present materials through graphic presentations and other communication media.

  • Elaborate visual communication materials.

  • Ensure all products are of the highest technical standards in the areas of content, design and impact.

  • Collect photographs and video footage in Bangkok. 

  • Support BSI project in Bangkok.

 

Qualifications

Nationality:  Thai nationality

Language requirements:  Excellent command of written and spoken English & Thai. 

 

Education/ Experience:  

  • Studies: Master's or Bachelor’s degree in communication, graphic design, digital marketing field or the equivalent in progressive work experience.

  • Working knowledge: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, After Effects, Premiere, etc.), web design knowledge

  • Professional experience in building marketing communication strategies (min. 3 years of experience)

 

 Other skills and competencies:

  • Creative and meticulous, ability to work independently with a deadline, ability to provide and receive positive criticism in a constructive manner, highly motivated, flexible and interested in humanitarian missions.

  • Committed to social work/child welfare, dedication for non-profit work, communication and human relations skills.

  • Teamwork ability, flexibility on working hours, tolerance & human values, highly motivated, positive energy & spirit.


 

Working hours: Full time - Monday to Friday with occasional weekend and evenings

Salary & Compensation: Starting at 30,000 THB (To be defined based on experience and qualifications)
