Background/IRC Summary: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Mae Hong Son provinces

 

Job Overview/Summary:

To achieve an effective and smooth logistics operation including transportation of staff or visitors and delivery of medical equipment, medicine and supplies, referral of camp patients, feeding activities for pregnancy, assistance to all programs staff when in camps as appropriate and ensure efficient driving and maintenance of IRC vehicle in compliance with IRC rules and regulations.

 

Major Responsibilities:

•  To ensure efficient driving and maintenance of IRC vehicle in compliance with IRC rules and regulations

•  To ensure good taking care of evacuated camp patient

•  To ensure effective delivery of medical equipment supplies, medicine and other supplies to camps

•  Pick-up staff and IRC visitors and drop them off to camps or their required destinations and ensure all of them return back to the MHS office or other required destination after working.

•  Verify the types of materials being loaded on vehicle

•  Perform appropriate maintenance and keep truck clean at all time

•  To prepare vehicle in good working condition on daily basis

•  To prepare tools and equipment for emergency incidents

•  To inspect schedule of travelling to camp as a planned by IRC program

•  To load medical equipment, supplies and medicine on truck after checking with checklist

•  To facilitate patient or relative to move up on truck with suggestion for convenience

•  Perform other duties, as appropriate or requested by Supervisor.

 

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to: Supply Chain Officer 

Position directly supervises: None

Indirect Reporting: Senior Supply Chain Officer

Other Internal and/or external contacts:

Internal: Field Coordinator, Finance Team, Senior IT Officer and all program staff.

External: Suppliers and organizations providing procurement and logistical services to IRC.

 

Job Requirements:

Education: At least certificate of Primary education (M.3)

Work Experience:                                         

-  Experience in working with refugees

-  At least 3-year experience in off-road driving

 

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

-  High capability to use tools or equipment for facing accident, high know-how of vehicle maintenance

-  Work well under pressure

-  Good interpersonal and communication skills

-  Team player

 

Language Skills: Knowledge of written and spoken Thai, English, Burmese, and local language in refugee camp is preferable.

Certificates or Licenses:  Valid private Car Driving License

 

Working Environment: The position will be based in Mae Hong Son and regularly travel to Ban Mai Nai Soi and Ban Mae Surin Temporary camps and other areas as assigned by supervisor.
