EDUCATION SERVICES SUPERVISOR
COERR FOUNDATION or Catholic Office for Emergency Relief and Refugees (COERR), a Thai NGO under the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand (CBCT) was established in 1978 for the purpose of bringing aid to displaced persons in Thailand and those affected by natural disasters.
COERR is urgently looking for experienced personnel to fill the post of Education Services Supervisor, based in Bangkok
LEVEL: Senior Level
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Responsible for the day-to-day direction and supervision of the education services unit, the enrollment/registration, and movements of the students aged 6-17 years and adults.
Responsible for preparing project proposals, work plan, monthly and annual narrative and statistics reports of Education Services Unit. Maintain a student database in Salesforce and monthly and yearly statistics on the number of students at all levels, enrollment number, by gender and age, and the education services and assistance availed by them.
Participate in preparing project budget and ensure work plan is followed and implemented.
Plan and develop, in consultation and coordination with the Program Manager, appropriate strategies and activities relevant and according to the changing profiles and corresponding education needs of the urban refugee population.
Ensure that refugee and asylum seeker girls and children are given priority in availing or having access to education and learning opportunities.
Responsible for giving orientation, direction, guidance, and supervision to teaching staff members (new and regular, Thai and refugee volunteers) in areas of preparing lesson plan/s, periodic scheduling of classes/lessons, classroom management, and students’ progress and evaluation.
Explore the options of other education services for refugee and asylum seeker children, overage children or young adults, children with special needs
Responsible for the enrollment and registration of those students who are eligible for admission to Thai public schools. Ensure that each student has individual record or progress report card on file and, if appropriate, passes the placement test. Develop and oversee the school attendance and adjustment system (SAAMS), to monitor and intervene to retain students enrolled in schools and support students’ integration to classes, mainly with regular Comprehensive School Visits (CSV).
Set up a system of enrollment/registration of those students who are eligible for participation in the Intensive Thai Language Classes, both for children and adults, and set up a system for the record and payment of transport/internet allowances for eligible students.
Responsible for developing and evaluating curriculum for Intensive Thai language Classes, both for children and adults, and conduct performance evaluation and appraisal of the teaching staff members and write and submit said reports to the Program Manager.
Supervise the teacher trainer to identify the need, design, plan and conduct a series of training for teaching staff members, and education officers.
Conduct regular staff meeting and promote in-service teaching staff and education officers’ professional development, and professional development community (PLC).
Undertake other assignments or duties that are necessary and relevant to the education of urban refugees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Thai nationality
Bachelor or Master Degree of Education in primary education or child development from a recognized university, ideally with Child Psychology knowledge and experience.
A degree in any field with at least 3 years of primary education teaching in classes of students from different backgrounds.
Minimum three-year experience in supervisory role
Open-mindedness, ability to work under pressure. Experience in a multi-cultural environment is an advantage.
Strong leadership and team building skills
Good command of spoken and written English. Good reporting and coordination skills
Good computer skills especially in Microsoft office
