Background of the project 

 

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is at work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. The IRC has been operating in Thailand since 1975 and currently provides assistance to displaced persons in Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Mae Hong Son provinces.

 

Following the coup in Myanmar in February 2021, fighting between the military and insurgents along the border with Thailand has led to a large-scale internal displacement and a smaller but growing number of refugees seeking protection in Thailand. Anticipating a potential large-scale influx of affected into Thailand this year, the IRC Thailand is preparing to expand and enhance its emergency protection services to put in place necessary internal mechanisms and coordination at provincial and national levels to address the emerging need of the affected people. The Emergency Protection Program has been funded by the DG ECHO, PRM, and DFAT and implemented in partnership with front-line community-based organizations and in coordination with National Protection Sector and Provincial Protection Sector Working group in Tak, Mae Hong Sorn, and Kanchanaburi Province.

 

Scope of work  

 

The Focus Protection Trainer (FPT) will providing the capacity building related to emergency protection topics to the stakeholders both CBOs and INGOs front line staff. The training topic includes how to core humanitarian in emergency response, how to apply for protection- mainstreaming, how to refer GBV cases, Rapid Need Assessment, Psychological First Aid (PFA), and how to apply Mental Health Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) in layers 1 and 2 Each training session will be conducted in one out of 3 languages (English, Burmese, Karen).   

 

The responsibility of the consultant is to manage the development of instructional materials (tutorials, digital interactives, user guides, audio, and video content (including references documentations), storyboards, navigational text, assessment tests, etc.) which transform technical information into practical skills for the frontline staff. One training session should be a maximum of 1.5 -2 hours with a specific topic. All training material and documentation should be available in Burmese and Karen languages.  Manage the design of the overall learning experience presented to the learner and publish technical content in online courses.

 

The content may include structured, formal classroom learning (ILT) with hands-on guidelines, as well as online synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences, to help the frontline staff achieve the competencies required to be successful in the emergency response. The FPT will collaborate with the Protection and Empowerment Sector Lead to plan and design the program offerings. The role requires an individual who is knowledgeable in adult learning theory and instructional design strategies for performance-based outcomes, who can innovate, move quickly, and not be constrained by how things have been done before.

 

The consultant will be under the supervision of the Senior Emergency Protection Manager to complete the high-quality delivers training programs for all stakeholders. Trainer position descriptions include administrative skills to manage training programs. S(h)e should evaluate the outcomes of training sessions through collect pre and post-test scores and maintaining records of trainees’ progress and achievements. They must also monitor training costs against budgets and ensure they make the most efficient use of organization resources.

  • How to apply PFA for the frontline staff
  • How to apply PSEA in the emergency repose
  • How to apply AAP in the emergency response

 

Conduct 3 online training sessions

 

December

Submit Consultancy and training report covering all key elements of consultancy (design of curricula, relevant data, attendance details, and pre/posttests)

 

 

The payment will be paid upon the completion of assignment each month by IRC after the IRC

Program checks all documents and approve. IRC may withhold for taxes 3% as required by law

And shall provide withholding certificates to the translator, accordingly.

 

Requirements:

 

Education:  At least a University Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a relevant field.

 

Work Experience:  at least 3 years of training experience and proven experience working as a Curriculum Designer, Instructional Designer.

 

Demonstrated skills:                                                                                                                    - Detailed knowledge of learning management software

- General knowledge of photo and video editing software

- Good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical colleagues and clients

- Critical thinking skills                                          

- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines

 

Languages: Influent in English and Thai, including Karen, and Burmese are pluses.

 

Computer skills: Proficient in MS Office and Learning Management System (LMS) Strong Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
