Malteser International is a German non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for people in need in over 20 countries. Malteser International is currently working with temporary refugee shelters and surrounding villages in Sob-Moei district, Mae Hong Son province in Thailand. Our office located in Mae Sariang is looking for an efficient, motivated and experienced Thai national for the position as Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Supervisor.

 

RCCE Supervisor

Duty Station: Mae Sariang town, Mae Hong Son province.

Work locations: Based in Mae Sariang, with travel to Mae Ra Ma Luang and Mae La Oon temporary shelters.

Work Contract: Until 31st July 2023

Salary range: 30,000 (+benefits)

 

The following is an abridged version of the full job description

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  1. Plan and implement RCCE activities in temporary shelters with supervisor and preventive health care team.

  2. Monitor and supervise RCCE activities implemented by shelter based RCCE responders.

  3. Coordinate RCCE activities with camp committee, religious leaders, camp-based staffs of other NGOs and CBOs.

  4. Proper dissemination of weekly announcements, media monitoring reports with camp committee, religious leaders, and other NGOs and CBOs.

  5. Disseminate information about COVID 19 vaccine, vaccination procedures other services to displaced persons.

  6. Set up and operate COVID 19 vaccination information sharing and registration center in each temporary shelter.

  7. Implement and coordinate registration for COVID 19 vaccination with the support of RCCE responders, camp committee, section leaders, and religious leaders.

  8. Collect community feedbacks related to COVID 19 vaccination, prevention, and control from camp residents through group discussions, interviews, surveys, and report to supervisor on weekly basis.

 

Essential Qualifications/Skills:

Education

  1. Bachelor’s or Master degree in public health, social sciences, rural development, communications, or similar field.

Experience

  1. Experience at the community level on designing and implementing RCCE activities for outbreak response.

  2. Previous experience in health and hygiene promotion in humanitarian settings.

  3. Experience in developing and delivering training to substandard literacy groups.

  4. Experience of working in resources limited environment.

  5. Experience of facilitating meetings, group discussions, information sharing sessions with adults and school children.

  6. Experience of data and community feedback collection and analysing.

 

Knowledge and skills

  1. Fluent (spoken and written) both Thai and Sgaw Karen. Ability to speak Burmese and English would be an asset.

  2. Understand how to promote behaviour change, include increasing the uptake of prevention measures, dispelling rumours, and addressing stigma.

  3. Good communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

  4. Good skills with Microsoft office package.
