Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:
Under its Migrant Assistance and Counter-Trafficking Unit (MACTU), IOM Thailand implements a range of national and regional projects aimed at addressing migration challenges and delivering increased protection and assistance to vulnerable migrants in partnership with government, civil society and private sector counterparts. In particular, the PRM-funded “Child Care Services and Psychosocial Assistance at Bangkok Immigration Detention Centres” project aims to improve living conditions and health outcomes (including mental health and psychosocial wellbeing) for migrant children and women detained in Bangkok.
Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager of Child Care Services and Psychosocial Assistance’s Project in IOM Thailand, and direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant, and in collaboration with relevant units at IOM Thailand, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for supporting project team in providing direct psychosocial care to the beneficiaries and to contribute to the implementation of project activities within Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants and Counter Trafficking thematic programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:
Provide administrative support to vulnerable migrants in Shelters for Children and Families and Welfare Protection Centres for Victims of Trafficking under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) and Immigration Detention Centres (IDCs), either referred by social workers or shelters’ staff or local authorities or caregivers;
In coordination with project team and local authorities, assist in conducting activities related to rehabilitation, such as but not limited to play therapy, games, informal group discussion and peer support,
In coordination with Senior Project Assistance, regularly input and update the statistical information of beneficiaries in the IOM data base system
Assist in preparation of needs assessments and pre/post evaluation of special needs cases and individuals, as well as statistical information and reports on the psychosocial assistance provided by IOM to its beneficiaries (number of cases, nationalities, age, etc.)
Assist the project team in delivering the psychosocial care training for service providers, including to government and non-government counterparts.
Maintain positive relations with local implementing actors and stakeholders for the successful and timely implementation of above-mentioned duties and services.
Undertake regular travel within and outside of duty station as may be required for official duties and providing psychosocial services;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION
Master’s degree in Psychology, Mental Health of Social Workers, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
EXPERIENCE
Experience on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Peace building, Social Cohesion, and Community Organizing.
Experience and knowledge of migrant children and child protection in Thailand context is an advantage.
SKILLS
High interpersonal skills in dealing with colleagues and the community is a must.
Coordination and liaison skills
Strong community mobilization and engagement
Data protection, project monitoring and reporting
Good computer literacy skills and data management
LANGUAGES
Fluency in English and Thai (oral and written)
Conversant in Burmese and Khmer is an asset.
