Background of the project 

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) Thailand country program was established in 1976 to assist refugees from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and currently assists refugees and migrants from Myanmar. IRC Thailand operates as one of the largest and programmatically diverse humanitarian organizations providing essential services to displaced populations in Thailand. Operating from Bangkok and four field offices in Mae Hong Son, Mae Sot, Kanchanaburi

 

The IRC is aiding nearly 140,000 refugees in nine camps along the Thailand-Myanmar border, providing drinking water and food as well as health care, sanitation, protection for children and abused women, and legal assistance and resettlement processing. In Mae Hong Son province, IRC is the sole provider of health ser-vices in Ban Mai Noi Soi and Ban Mae Surin refugee camps, with over 14,000 population. IRC’s health services in the two camps include primary health care, reproductive health, community preventive health, psychosocial services and environ-mental health services.

 

The aim of compiling IRC-MHPSS curriculum is to promote understanding thus im-prove the community’s knowledge to detect and deal with the psychosocial needs of refugees living in 7 refugee camps along Thai - Myanmar border in Tak and Mae Hong Son Provinces

 

Scope of work:

Under the supervision of Psychosocial Program Supervisor, Layout & Curriculum Editor Consultant will: 

•  Work with IRC-Psychosocial Manager and IRC-Psychosocial Supervisor to enhance effectivity of IRC-MHPSS curriculum

•  Assist in improving the curriculum structure and grammatical correct for promoting and providing mental health knowledge to CBOs and Psychosocial Workers in 7 camps as well as partners and stakeholders

 

Responsibilities:

•  Provide Desktop Publishing Software to create layout for IRC-MHPSS’s curriculum in English and Myanmar version

•  Complete layout tasks for IRC’s mental health curriculum in English and Myanmar

 

Deliverables:

•  First draft of layout tasks for IRC-MHPSS curriculum by 31st October 2022

•  Final draft should be presented to Psychosocial Program Manager/ Supervisor upon further discussion and correction by 30th November 2022

 

Payment Rate and Schedule:

•  The payment will be paid once the contractor submit the final layout tasks to IRC-Psychosocial Manager/Supervisor under the condition that all details tasks & structures had been approved

 

Requirements:

 

Education:

•  Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Computer AND/OR Psychology / Mental Health) with very high command of English in writing and writing and editing for grammatical and format structure

•  DTP’s application literate; In-design, PageMaker, Word processor, Page layout, Graphic and Web Publishing

 

Work Experiences:

•  Experiences in conceptualizing project ideas and translating into camera-ready copy using desktop publishing software; using computer art or illustration techniques; using peripheral devices such as laser printers and fonts or optical scanner; writing and editing text for publication.

•  Highly organized and manages time and information well

•  Experience in designing tools data collection, analysis, visualization, and production of NGO reports/curriculum is a plus

 

Demonstrated abilities:

•  Knowledge in mental health, diagnostic and MH-GAP Guidelines or IASC Guidelines for Mental Health in Emergency / Crisis Settings

•  Very good command of English both written, reading and can edit English text and can provide editing for grammatical correct

•  Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

•  Designing skills - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in pro-duction of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

 

Languages and computer skills:

•  Proficiency in English and Thai, (Myanmar would be a plus but not essential)

•  In-design and DTP – Publishing knowledge of typography, printing and bindery equipment uses and basic design and layout techniques
