Net Free Seas Workshop Coordinator

The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is an international non-profit organisation working globally to protect natural environments and the human rights of people who depend on them. EJF is working in Thailand to end illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and human rights abuses on fishing vessels and the marine plastic pollution with a specific focus on Abandoned, Lost, or otherwise Discarded Fishing Gear (ALDFG)

In July 2020, we launched the 'Net Free Seas' project, a community-based solution to recycle ALDFG from Thailand’s coastlines to prevent them from harming marine environments. This year, we received the Ghost Gear Fund from the department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada to build ASEAN’s capacity in managing ALDFG across the region through capacity building workshops and other advocacy activities.

EJF is seeking to employ a ‘Net Free Seas Workshop Coordinator’ to help EJF deliver its advocacy efforts in improving the ALDFG management in Thailand. This position will involve working with Campaigners and Coordinators of the Net Free Seas project in Thailand and Indonesia, coordinating and managing high-level meetings and workshops and deliverables to facilitate the Ghost Gear Fund’s objectives. He/she will report to the Net Free Seas Campaigner for all workshop and grant related activities.
