The Borderland Health Foundation (BHF) is a non-for-profit, non-religious and non-political organization, registered in Thailand. BHF links to field stations of the Mahidol-Oxford University Research Unit (SMRU Clinics) which are located in Mae Sot, Mae Ramat, Phro Phra, Tha Song Yang and Umphang districts in Tak province, Thailand. BHF works with marginalized populations along Thailand-Myanmar border by focusing on health care services and public health issues with its focus on malaria, tuberculosis, and maternal and child health.

 

Job title: Logistician

Supervisor:  Logistics Manager

Starting date:  As soon as possible

 

This position is mainly focus in coordination for all logistics needs of BHF and SMRU, assisting the logistic manager for all the supplies delivery, tracking the procured supply and make sure the supply arriving to program locations on time with the documentation of supply follow up. He/She is also responsible for ensuring smooth operations of BHF/SMRU storage facilities and manage the receipt, dispatch and inventory keeping of all goods that entered into the storage facilities.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Storage and distribution management:
  • Coordinate with vendors to arrange transportations and deliveries of supplies and materials
  • Coordinating with procurement team and checking and verifying orders and deliveries on specification, quality and quantity
  • Ensure the timely delivery of supplies to program locations with the coordination of logistics and procurement team.
  • Conducting physical counts of inventory to determine if quantities are within acceptable limits
  • Monitoring current inventory levels and communicating with logistic manager and project coordinator about available inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies are available for each project.
  • Maintaining inventory records to track incoming and outgoing shipments, including identification numbers, dates, and quantities.
  • Ensures that the storage spaces and conditions are appropriate to the mission’s need and that merchandise is stored appropriately in terms of layout, safety, and hygiene.
  • Prepare report of monthly stocks, end of grant stocks, fiscal year physical counts and other physical counts, as instructed by supervisor.
  • Set up reporting system from the field level to the central level and ensures all concerned task is done properly and reporting to logistic manager as assigned.

 

  1. Vehicles
  • Assist logistics manager in managing activities of the driver/ logistician and ensures the vehicles of the program ready at all times and properly driven/maintained.

      3. Coordination

  • Working closely with SMRU logistics Department and share the monthly activities plan, travel plan effectively.
  • Attend regular SMRU logistic team meeting and share the barriers and strong point of the coordination with logistic team, procurement team, partners and field area coordinators.
  • Coordinates the activities of SMRU and partners.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Position requirements

  • Degree in logistics management, administration or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Strong experience in logistics, driving and / or program management in a comparable environment (NGOs, iNGOs, CBOs).
  • Good command in written and verbal of Thai, English, Burmese and/or Karen language
  • Good MS Office skills i.e. Excel and Word and database skills
  • Honest and Fast learner
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Mature, polite and be a good team player 
  • Good troubleshooting skills with the proven ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Culturally sensitive with the ability to work with a multi or cross-cultural team and understanding of the situation along the Thailand-Burma border and in- side Burma.
